[Brackets mine] Wrong question. It should be quote:
ORIGINAL: TheTrickster [Why h]ave you ever lied or stretched the truth? Those people who are brutally honest might pat themselves on the back (they have to do it for themselves because they've chased everyone else off), but there is middle ground. Also, there is a difference between the truth and a fact. One can speak factually, but that doesn't make it the absolute truth. Every baby is not physically appealing in looks, but every baby is precious. Sometimes I can't tell somebody the unvarnished truth because they can't handle the truth. So I keep my mouth shut instead, or I might bide my time. At other times, I don't want to hurt someone's feelings, so I might exercise tact. I have also been in that place where I could not honesty say I was fine when asked. I would say, "Things could be better" or "Not so good, but it'll pass." Have I ever told an outright lie? Sure, but I didn't feel right about myself afterward. Also, telling little white lies can become an unhealthy compulsion. I expect my friends and family to be truthful with me, and they know that I'll do the same with them. [Edited to fix quote box]
