Technically there is nothing illegal about housecalls but the
medical board is threatening the licence of a doctor who is
making them for shutins in Mississippi.

Officially they are not illegal so they are after him for
"Writing prescriptions out of his car"

First they offered to do it quietly, so no one would know.
He refused. So now he faces a formal hearing. Story is
now on the Fox website.

I'll bet they still wish it was quiet.

I thought it was because his medical license had lapsed?

There has to be more to the story.

If there's no actual law to prohibit writing prescriptions from his car, then that cannot be why they're investigating him. I've seen two articles now that have said that the Board has labeled him "incompetent." (Granted, I don't know who said that.)

From what I can see, it is only the doctor who is claiming he is being targeted for operating out of his car. Perhaps the fact that he's operating out of his car is rolled into their decision that he is incompetent. But that can't be all.

It's an ongoing investigation that the Board can't comment on. Just like any investigation of its sort. Anything at this point is conjecture, and people are falling for the sob story because it feels good to punch their fists in the air and yell about stickin' it to the man. But...I know all too well how the media gets their shit wrong all the time.

So no, I don't believe it. There has to be more to why they are having a hearing. And it's nothing the Board can legally comment on. Which means the information that the public is getting, and thus using to get all fired up and sign petitions, is incomplete.

That being said, on a personal level, I think he's doing a good thing and I would hate to see him lose his ability to treat these people.

On the other hand, standards are there for a reason. Either the Board has a vendetta against him and doesn't want him to help sick people, which seems unlikely, or he actually is doing something wrong or exhibiting incompetency.

I'm happy to be proven wrong. He seems like a good guy.

More like he isn't part of the corporate medical care conglomerates so they want to shut him down.

I remember it happening in Arkansas as well. The local hospital tried to shut down the aging local doctor that charged $10 for a visit with no procedures performed.

he is helping people who cant afford to go to the doctor. If his diagnosis are accurate and he cures, then I think he is great.
