Wow. You can't make this shit up.

A 3-year-old boy shot his father and pregnant mother inside a New Mexico motel room, police said Sunday. Both parents are recovering. The Albuquerque Police Department said in a statement that it appears the toddler managed to take a handgun out of his mother’s purse and fire one shot in the America’s Best Value Inn on Saturday afternoon.

The bullet hit the father in the buttock, exited the man’s hip and then struck the toddler’s mother in the shoulder, according to police. The mother, who is eight months pregnant, is hospitalized in stable condition and the father has been treated and released, police added.

Justin Reynolds said he and his girlfriend, Monique Villescas, were getting ready to order pizza when he heard a gun go off. “The next minute I realized my girlfriend was bleeding,” he told NBC News station KOB. “Then I sat down and realized I was shot too.” Reynolds said he immediately called 911 and grabbed towels to try to stop Villescas’ bleeding.

“I just took action right away,” he told KOB. “I was more worried about my girlfriend than myself and anything else that was going on. And my son because I didn’t know if he had shot himself or not. He was shocked and crying. It was traumatizing.” Reynolds added that he was grateful his Villescas’ two-year-old daughter - who had been sitting her to her mother at the time - was not injured.

...and why it's important that guns be ready to shoot at a moment's notice by 3-year olds.

littleladybug -> RE: Hands UP!!! Mom and Dad (2/2/2015 10:24:13 AM)

Seriously...why the hell is a gun accessible to a 3 year old?

As someone who grew up with guns in the home, whose father carried every day, I have a hard time with the "oops" response.

A toddler even having the opportunity to do something like this? There's something to be said about those who believe in Darwinism...

Lucylastic -> RE: Hands UP!!! Mom and Dad (2/2/2015 10:30:24 AM)

they were in a motel...
maybe they felt safer with a gun in the motel room??
im sure as hell not making excuses for them, i feel sorry for the kids

kdsub -> RE: Hands UP!!! Mom and Dad (2/2/2015 10:34:31 AM)

I hope the day will come when technology is dependable enough for a one owner operation of a weapon...and it is mandated by law.

And, there's a way to be safe even when away from home.

Lesson learned...mom's purse is *not* a way to be safe.

Wow. You can't make this shit up.

Charges may result.

APD says the case will be forwarded to the DA's office and pending charges of felony criminal negligence will be reviewed on both parents. ~Eyewitness News

I haven't seen any info on the type of weapon yet, but things are going to get interesting if it's another Smith & Wesson M&P.

Oh. oh. oh. I feel so loved. I think. Do they hate me? Wanna mess with me? Oh. I am so confused. Trying to laugh with me, kill me or just slide another gun thread in? [:D]

I just told someone not to mess with me on the phone because I had to do banking. All those numbers! Not in my morning!

He had the audacity to say that it wasn't morning!

Yes, it is, I just woke up, so this is my morning. Shut up.

Then I come in for this.

I'm going to go count my fingers and repeat a phrase over and over again.

I'm confused. Why would you say it's morning if it weren't? You wouldn't lie would you?

Moderator3 -> RE: Hands UP!!! Mom and Dad (2/2/2015 6:34:52 PM)

LOL

I'm not lying. It is MY Morning. [;)]

Going back to my ba, ba, ba, ba, ba

Lucylastic -> RE: Hands UP!!! Mom and Dad (2/2/2015 6:35:37 PM)

I have to agree, my morning starts when I wake up.
Not having a 9-5 is wonderful
If anyone had said that to me, Im afraid I wouldnt have been as kind.
Well until the second coffee

Knew it, you wouldn't lie about something like that. I say morning starts after the second cup of coffee. Till then it isn't even daytime.

Wow. You can't make this shit up.....

It is so surreal I almost wonder if they are making this shit up. I can understand and comprehend the 15 year Kid Shoots Burglar. He was cognitive about what he was doing and had been trained. Police say he was protecting his 12 yo sister.

I can comprehend Grand Theft Auto Blamed After Eight-Year-Old Shoots Grandmother. I don't agree with the ban but I think an 8yo should not have unsupervised access to a loaded gun anymore than that kid at the wedding. But video games, TV shows and movies do effect the personality and perspectives kids have. This violent exposure is desensitizing them to it.,, Hel, one even shot another over an Xbox. Boy, 13, held on charges he killed cousin, 16, over Xbox - Jan 6. 2014

I believe in accountability and that parents should exercise control over their children's media exposure and provide a good influence over their children, just as gun owners should exercise good practice in gun safety and be held accountable when they don't. I carried my 1911 for years in a shoulder holster, cocked and locked. When it wasn't holstered, the chamber was empty/safety on. You would have to rack one in to fire it. In this video of a kid shoots man at wedding should be called kid shoots idiot. I am pretty sure the kid didn't know she was harming him. That wouldn't have happened if when the gun left his hand, he used gun safety procedures, like not leaving your gun laying around at drunken party or if the chamber was empty and safety was on.

What is incomprehensible to me, like the wedding video, is that lately toddlers and kids seem to be shooting a lot of people lately. Just last night a kid shot his mom here in Florida. Over the past year I have noticed more and more stories about kids shooting the place up. The only rational thing I can think of for the increase of kids with guns is that there must be more parents with guns that aren't educated in gun safety. Did the pending gun control issue scare a bunch of people into buying guns prematurely because they were afraid they wouldn't be able to later? I know I purchased a tactical shotgun sooner than I would have because I was worried there would be a tactical weapons ban.

Do we have a bunch of new uneducated gun owners that wouldn't have have bought a gun in the first place if it weren't for the gun control threat. Here are some stories about kids and the unsecured gins they got a hold of. I left out the intentional mass murdering, family killing murder/suicide teens.

Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult. We know that 102 people killed in these accidental gun deaths in 2011 were younger than 18, according to Vernick, with half of these children younger than age 13.

PyrotheClown -> RE: Hands UP!!! Mom and Dad (2/3/2015 5:15:41 PM)

If you ban handguns for children, then only criminal toddlers will have guns.... . . Yeah yeah,I know, bad taste.Really thou,I can't help but to think that if guns were as legally restricted as cars were(you know, those life threatening devices that you have to purchase insurance for and have to reregister every so often)this kinda shit wouldn't happen as nearly as often.I'm not against guns,I'm just against stupid people being able to access them so easily, and I don't even care if they're law abiding idiots.Case in point,of I don't take proper responsibility with my automobile,it will be towed away.I can legally have all the fire arms I want, keep'em under every pillow rock and tree of my property and everything is A ok,but lord forbid I don't reassure the state that my car is still in my possession and isn't in some dilapidated condition...just a rant
