One party and half the GOP is interested in Immigration Reform.
The Democrats passed health care reform and actually staff the EPA and SEC with enforcement personnel.
Religion & Anti-abortion rhetoric does not dominate Democratic thinking.
All that said, each party needs big money to win Congressional and Presidential elections.

The SEC was staffed all through the 2000's, including when the Democrats were in charge of Congress (starting in 2006). They were too busy looking up porn on their computers to do their jobs.

Week 1, Vote for the speaker and pass law friendly to Wall Street Bankers.

Week 2, debate deporting children.

Week 3, debate rape and incest exceptions for abortion.

Week 4, Politicize the funding of the Department of Homeland Security

Week 5, Vote to repeal the ACA for the 50+ time

Hmm. . . yep, congress needs to repeal a lot more stuff.

Some day, you'll have something constructive to add --- as is -- it would be my CMMB proposal that we designate MNOT the sole responsibility of responding to your posts -- because he does it so well -- and he could relieve the rest of us the burden.

Is the problem with Republicans in Congress.
Is the problem with Democrats in Congress.
Or, is the real problem with Politicians in Congress.

Consider what it takes to be a career politician; a total dedication to getting elected, no matter the cost.

Its Republicans in Congress. Why should they work hard or efficiently? The people who put them into office bitch all day about nothing useful getting done in Congress, and blame it all on Democrats. Why in hell would they want to hold the people they support and elect into public office to the same level of accountability and responsibility as they slam the President and Democrats on an hourly basis? We'd have better government almost overnight!

Yeah, it's the GOP House. And you blame others for complaining about nothing getting done? How many House-passed bills were voted on in the Senate?

You really just...DONT GET IT...do you?

Let's make a hypothetical dimension to help explain our reality to you. In this alternative reality, you are the embodiment of Republicans, and I, the Democrats. You control the Senate and I the House of Representatives. Being the House, I create laws which are sent to the Senate to be agreed upon. If sufficient 'aye' votes are found from both the House and Senate, the bill goes to the Executive branch (i.e. the President) for approval. If sufficient 'aye' votes are found in the House and Senate at a certain mark, the bill becomes law without going to the White House. This is how our form of government operates. Right?

Ok, I send onto you bill after bill, on stuff my people want in America. You know, removing the 2nd amendment, and other stuff. Would you agree to laws that effectively eliminate a person from buying, making, owning, using, transporting, transferring, handling, firearms and bullets?

In order for you....NOT...to be a hypocrite in the normal reality, DS, you have to say 'yes' to each one of those bills in that alternative reality.

The House passed numerous silly and stupid bills they and everyone else knew (including the Democrats) that would never get approved in the Democratically controlled Senate. Even if it did, the President could veto it. But US History as it relates to Congress is not one of your stronger skills. The budget has been a huge power play for years. That Democrats have come to the table wanting a 50/50 deal; while Republican/Tea Party expected a 90/10 in their favor. Forgot about that Congressional Super Committee of 2011 already? Why was it formed, DS? Do you even have a clue?

How did the budget get blown out of proportion in the first place, DS? Do you even know that? Here is a hint to help with your 'research skills': year 2000.

Actually quite a few bills have increased security measures not just on the two borders but at each port. But you would only know that if you bothered to read things instead of being told what to think on an hourly basis....

We've actually had threads dealing with the topic of 'Improving Congress'. Ways to either increase productivity, or allow for more 'normal' Americans to serve (i.e. non-'multi-millionaires'). Often those threads turn into shouting matches of crap. So any real discussion that might be productive, becomes drown by the partisan firing on all sides. An you thought it was just two sides, right?

There is nothing wrong with someone that makes a career being a politician (to serve in public office). If what that person does brings more good to those they serve. Not just those whom elected them into office, but those whom did not. A very important distinction. Unfortunately, when the congress person is not in Washington doing their actual job (committees, voting, etc.) they are at home performing re-election parties to gain more money. Rather than say....reading the actual bills.....before getting back to Washington.

So if we could have a discussion, to which we figure out what the problems are, minus the riff-raft and partisan 'jabs'; could we figure out possible solutions? I'm for that discussion. As long as those in the discussion agree to certain boundries.
