As long as people remain insulated from the necessity of firearms this crap will continue. It's hashed, rehashed, and beat to death because you can call your lawyer/law enforcement for just about anything most posters will encounter. When one of them finds themselves in a situation where lawyer/law enforcement isn't an option... the sudden realization that they are not on the top of the food chain blindsides them... they'll stop posting... should they survive the reality of their significance in the food chain, their perspective will make a drastic change.
The firearm threads are all "us" and "them", black and white, rarely does the firearm debate encompass more than the concrete jungle, and when it does, some idiot makes a blatant post of idiocy. However, when you take said idiot and put them in a situation where they are not top of the food chain, hindsight becomes 20/20 and their final thought is "why, oh why didn't I bring a gun.
