My control is . . . well, lets just say my depth of control stays about the same from the point of collaring on. It is my partner's faith in my judgement and control that grows over time. But I don't think I have control over that which I do not own, so I don't start a date or first encounter by shouting commands. Nor do I think I am good at controlling everything in life.

Also, my fragile male ego can handle the fact I am not omnipotent. There are things that my partner is better suited to exercise their judgement over and I allocate those things to them. Best person suited for the job usually gets it and it's not always me.

You don't need to beat a bitch down to prove your position as Top Dog.

However, in the right circumstances it makes some lovely sounds.

Sometimes being unsure or insecure and still making the effort is a step in the process of growing. Maybe the insecurity isn't the issue, and the effort is.
