As much as I abhor Sanity's right-wing obsessive points of view and that anything he doesn't agree with is "leftist" with prejudice, he does have a point.

You didn't see them rally round after the Charlie Hebdo attack did you?
You didn't see a general collaboration of Islamists protecting many other synagogue's did you?
Out of 1.4 billion Muslims worldwide, there's a token of 1,000 surrounding one synagogue in Oslo.
Not lots of them in major cities elsewhere - just one synagogue, in one city.
That's not any support of masses of Muslims offering symbolic support to the Jews - it's pure paranoia.

It's far too little, far too late, and a token gesture joke.

As I've said several times across several threads, an awful lot of Islamics (of all types) actually support the ideology of what ISIS/AQ/BH et al is enacting.
We in the west see it as terrorism; but it is the fundamental bedrock of Islamic beliefs.
And to my mind, that is precisely why you don't see a general uprising of Islamics against the terrorist groups.
Because to do so would mean to repudiate/denounce certain fundamental aspects of their faith; and to do that openly invites death by their own kind.

When you go on your racist rants no one listens to you, at least other than other racist idiots

I don't see it as racist.
It is a fundamental clash of ideologies that can never truly integrate.
Pointing out those major differences is not racism.

when all catholics agree, when jews all agree, when christians , hindus, agree with each other can you realisitically expect only ONE religon to agree.
Human nature sure as shit doesnt work that way, why are you expecting another religion to do exactly what YOU cannot do, or rather WONT do.

What did I write. I dont know where the fault for the discrepancy lies...

You are coming off as being a bit unhinged

you recognize the symptoms from your own pathology?
Imm so sorry for you...indignancy is not being unhinged....
questioning stupidity isnt unhinged, but I can see why you feel traumatised.

Why dont you try to find out where your 'discrepancy' comes from, if you have a problem with the report....you dig deeper
or you make ridiculous claims ...

This is the biggest problem. Their religion is causing alot of guilt and confusion among them who has to abide by non-muslim countries culture and laws. On one hand, they want to fit in and just be like just the other kids, on the other hand, their religion is telling them that if they do, they are committing sins.

I just don't see how Islamic teachings are compatible with modern lives. It's all these conflicts that causes problems when they have internal dilemma.

Ive used the term racist 20 times in the past (since 2010) and 99.9% percent of those were not calling anyone a racist. So your claim is false AGAIN

Got to pretty much agree with you, it is a token gesture organized by but not documented as being solely attended by Muslims. It doesn't rank up there with the four black guys in Ferguson MO protecting a white owned business. They had people who tried to loot it but explained to them the error or their ways (that is Texan for one more step and you die). Those 4 put it all on the line to do the right thing. When Muslims stop a terror attack I will be more impressed.

According to lucys source they were chanting "No to anti-Semitism, no to Islamophobia" so... It apparently wasnt entirely selfless on the part of the Muslims who attended. I imagine the European Muslim community as a whole is taking some heat because of recent headlines, and this is at least in part a REACTION to that

Whatever it is, you're promoting an ideology that systematically fails to explain, FD. I've just watched a Sky interview with the father of one of the three Muslim girls who have secretly tried to make their way to join ISIS. Of course he knew nothing about his daughter's (or her friends') plan and he was crying his eyes out. I mean, you even lump terms like 'Muslims' and 'Islamists' together as though they were one thing governed by one worldview and made up of just 'one kind of person'. Do you think he loves ISIS? It's really pretty senseless.

Interesting. Does this mean that they have found a gene that compels someone to bow five times a day towards Mecca?

Maybe leftists have a hypocrisy gene. They love to rip Christians to no end for (gasp!) believing in God and creation etc (as opposed to all of the horrible things that are done every day in the name of Islam). And their open hatred of Christians is not similarly "racism"?

No, I'm not not saying he loves ISIS.
That's a pretty stupid thing to say because he has potentially lost his daughter to them and knows in his heart what sort of life she will have if she succeeds in getting there.

But the ideology, the fundamental bedrock of Islam (including the Muslims), followers will defend their faith to the death because to deny anything within their faith would invite the death penalty upon them - from other members of their faith.

You don't see any of these families decrying ISIS or AQ do you??
You don't see them declaring that ISIS is bad do you?
You don't see them abandoning their faith because their faith is corrupting their children do you??
No, they just want their daughters back because they know the consequences.

Do you not see the hypocrisy?
All the so-called 'moderates' tell us they are a good religion, a kind and loving religion, yet they fear for their daughters joining a purist Islamic group such as ISIS or AQ because they know how they will be treated.
What they say to the media is nothing more than a sham, a lie, because they back Islam all the way.

ETA: where do you get the idea that I'm promoting it???
I think Islam is a cancer in the western world.... I really do.
There are a number of really fundamental points where western society and Islam clash and there can never be any grey area to compromise with because the two ideologies are a dichotomy at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Coz I have no fucking idea where you get that ridiculous statement from.

Go to your nearest Muslim and ask them if they have been tested for that gene.

So you think that the man whose daughter has flitted off to Syria supports ISIS - but, is too scared to join up with them himself, or something? Really, FD - does that make sense to you? And what is he meant to do on television when asked how he feels? I would have thought that you'd need to be seriously jaundiced to assume that he thinks anything *other* than that ISIS is bad.

They can 'read' what they want to in Islam's texts, just as they know that others will 'read' what *they* want to in Islam's texts. That's what happens in Christianity too - and this goes some way to explain why the Christian church here in the UK will keep getting called a bunch of lefties (as again, recently, with their haranguing letter to the Tory government about its treatment of the poor) while in other parts of the world the Church is aligned with the right wing parties and governments. Thus we have a church here that downplays the hell, fire and brimstone, and focuses on the 'god is love'. You can do that with a religion: you can adapt it to suit. And everybody *has* done that, throughout the ages.

As it happens, ISIS take *the most* violent reading of Islam's texts. It's a zillion miles from most readings. Islam here is adapted to suit the comfortable, peaceful and Western-industrialised lives of most Muslims. They don't want to rock that boat. Why on earth would they?

I was talking about your own ideology, not that of Islam.

You're promoting an ideology that's based, amongst other things, on religious determinism - that what it says in a collection of religious texts describes the fundamental and most important things about how people are. Other aspects of culture, economics or politics are by implication trivial or even irrelevant in your ideology. A poor Muslim in Syria whose family has been killed by Assad will have the same outlook as a wealthy and middle class Muslim in the UK, or the rest of Europe or the USA - because they both adhere to the same reading of the same Islamic texts. That doesn't stand up to any serious analysis, FD.

And you also hold to an ideology that sees essential differences in cultures that are irreconcilable, despite the fact that globalisation, international trade, a neoliberal hegemony, the creation of a 'world culture', communications technologies (like the web), amongst many other things, mean that in huge numbers of ways we are all becoming more like each other, not less like each other. As an example, even ISIS, which deliberately sets itself up in opposition to everything they see as 'Western' (not to say 'modern') , nonetheless makes abundant use of the web and computer technology.

To a certain extent, but in every Christians' bible Jesus teaches his followers to "turn the other cheek" if someone strikes them, and "Ye without sin cast the first stone" when it comes to punishing people who fall short of the Christian ideal.

There is no real equivalent to such teachings in the bloody Islamic script.

quote:

As it happens, ISIS take *the most* violent reading of Islam's texts. It's a zillion miles from most readings.

No, it isnt, that is a myth and a lie. Islam doesnt mean "peace" it means "submission." ISIS and other "extremists" or more properly fundamentalists simply use a literal reading of the Koran and other Islamic script. Thats the problem. ISIS does as countless Muslims have done before them all the way back to when their first bloody conquests began, and put their sacred violent Islamic teachings into practice. Its going on in Africa and throughout the Middle East, in New York, Boston, London, Paris, Copenhagen... Not just with ISIS in Iraq and Syria

quote:

They wont, because they are outnumbered. Go live with your female friends and family members in Iran, or Saudi Arabia, or most other predominantly Islamic areas and try practicing many of the things you take for granted in the West. Have a beer at a sidewalk pub. Browse your porn, go swimming in a public area and see if you still see things the same way afterward.

They would most likely class him as a pagan, not believing in anything. To the moderate Muslim and the Koran that is worse than being a Christian or a Jew.
