As we have seen in recent months calls for violence have been answered. These are real threats... not made up. I do not think it would be wise to ignore them.

I agree that we have to take any threat seriously, although it's hard to say whether it's someone talking loud and making empty threats or perhaps as a way of inciting others - or if they have the actual means and wherewithal to carry out such a threat. I suppose if one wished to comb the more radical fringes of the internet, one could likely find various kinds of threats against this, that, or the other thing.

There are other prime targets besides the Mall of America. Here in St Louis we have the largest concentration of Muslim Bosnian refugees in America...70,000 in a few city blocks. Personally I believe these men and women are fine citizens that have revitalized decayed neighborhoods. But... there have been recent arrests of Bosnians for providing economic support to ISIS. So I guess the potential for an attack on an area Mall should at least be taken seriously...and be Non-political.

I never really could understand how or why terrorists choose their targets, at least when looking at some of the more notable terrorist attacks during my lifetime. I don't know what any terrorist group could expect to gain by an attack on the Mall of America (or any similar target), other than incurring another wave of intense wrath from the American people. It doesn't cause people to cower in fear or fold up; it just makes people even madder.

But they already consider us to be soft and weak. They expect that there will be a tipping point were we will just give up.

Islamists dont think anything like you think. They are raised to believe that they are invincible, because they have the power of Allah on their side.

They believe that these are just the opening salvos of the newest, latest battle in a war they have been fighting since the time of Mohammad in which a successful tactic all along has been terrorizing those victims who they come to displace and destroy in their holy quest to seize the planet as their god commands. They are not playing patty-cake. Terror is a tool to them, as terrorized people flee or are otherwise too scared to fight, and so are much easier to carve up, enslave or convert. They dont care if they die or how much "madder" you get, as long as most of the target population eventually lives in sheer terror of them.

And they also understand that they have already taken a very large portion of the planet with their terror tactics.

Christians also have had the same history.

Anyway, its warmer today, good day to attack the Mall of America. You should know, because most of you do not, we have a large Somali population in MSP.

Thats just another stupid lie on your part

Jesus taught his followers to turn the other cheek, and to not cast stones

Christianity was spread by kings for the most part, making Christianity the state religion as a "Christ-like" population was easy to control (with the king assuming the role of Christ)

And generally, the wars and conquests made by various monarchs in the name of Christianity was for the benefit of the monarchs, actual perversions of religious teachings

Not so much with Islam

mnottertail -> RE: Threat to the Mall of the Americas (2/24/2015 7:52:59 AM)

Plain stupidity as well as unfounded asswipe and lie on your part.

Using Jesuits and Inquisitors and Papal armies, maybe you have never heard of Roundheads, Oliver Cromwell, Crusades, Puritans, Ireland, Scotland, the Church of England, English Civil War, Olaf the Stout, Denmarks war of lutheranism and The Thirty years war, War of the Roses, the Hundred years war, why Holland and Belguim are two separate countries, Ferdinand and Isabella, the Borgias, The Crusades, ad nauseam.

Sanity -> RE: Threat to the Mall of the Americas (2/24/2015 8:15:29 AM)

You have failed to negate any of the points that I made

And you should get on your knees to thank the monarchs who sponsored certain crusades

Otherwise you would most likely be on your face chanting toward Mecca, assuming you were alive at all

mnottertail -> RE: Threat to the Mall of the Americas (2/24/2015 8:22:53 AM)

You have made no points, you foolishly slobbered asswipe is all, there is nothing to negate. You are the one on your knees.

Perhaps, although history has shown that it takes a LOT of terror to cow the majority of the population, something at the level of the Allied terror bombings in WW2 or the kind of widespread political terror which tends to occur after a seizure of power. Terror has been shown to be effective when it's calculated, organized, and oriented towards a specific objective. But when it's random, willy-nilly, and without any rhyme or reason, it seems as if they don't have any coherent goals. These seem more like acts of desperation in a losing cause.

Their actions are more like a dwarf kicking a giant in the shins and then running away to hide. Sure, the giant might feel pain from being kicked in the shin, but the bottom line is we're still the giant and they're still the dwarf.

quote:

And they also understand that they have already taken a very large portion of the planet with their terror tactics.

They also understand how much they've lost, not to mention how far behind they've been technologically and militarily. The Ottoman Empire was the last major Muslim power that gave the West any real grief - and that power was already on the wane even before WW1. Since then, most of the Muslim world has been either subjugated by European nations or otherwise under European or American hegemony, from Morocco to Indonesia. Despite the vast wealth a few have gained from oil, most of the Muslim world is still filled with squalor and sub-standard living conditions. None of these nations have the wherewithal or the infrastructure to produce the kind of military muscle needed to even defend their own territories, let alone launch a massive invasion of the entire world.

Ultimately, their terror tactics haven't really worked. For one thing, they prey on each other quite a bit, too, and that's why there's so much internecine violence among people of the same religion fighting over territory which "they have already taken." That's part of the reason how the West has held the upper hand all this time.

Zonie from what I have read the purpose of the atrocities of the ISIS is to provoke the enemies of Islam to invade Syria where according to the Hadith there will be a final battle that Islam will win before the end of time.

mnottertail -> RE: Threat to the Mall of the Americas (2/24/2015 9:12:36 AM)

So, we are going to do another Mother of all Wars?

kdsub -> RE: Threat to the Mall of the Americas (2/24/2015 9:13:47 AM)

I hope the hell not... let them kill each other I do not give a damn!

Butch

mnottertail -> RE: Threat to the Mall of the Americas (2/24/2015 9:15:36 AM)

Well, we could arm Ukraine, tell Turkey the Kurds get Iraq, and then walk in and flatten Syria, thats two to three weeks, and then walk away......

If it would save the Mall of America, we should consider it.

kdsub -> RE: Threat to the Mall of the Americas (2/24/2015 9:19:58 AM)

How about we just stay the hell out of all of it...Let the UN do its thing...[:D]

Because they have too many friends in the UN and we will be forced to fight them after they become much stronger.

kdsub -> RE: Threat to the Mall of the Americas (2/24/2015 9:28:08 AM)

No... they will never be strong enough to oppose us unless we allow a nuclear capability...and that is easily prevented with the will to do so.

And if we let the UN do their thing that will will be lacking.
How is it easily prevented?

Well, we know Russia has nukecap and they are running with Syria, so we would have to heavy them into war with Ukraine, cuz they wont handle both, otherwise they may have a free finger for buttons............

kdsub -> RE: Threat to the Mall of the Americas (2/24/2015 9:41:51 AM)

Blow their capability to kingdom come... We all know the UN is useless and eventually we will need to make the decision to protect ourselves. I know I sound radical but I am practical and I think there are very good odds that this is exactly what will happen in the future.

Butch

kdsub -> RE: Threat to the Mall of the Americas (2/24/2015 9:43:57 AM)

I don't give a damn about the Ukraine.... the US should not either.

Butch

mnottertail -> RE: Threat to the Mall of the Americas (2/24/2015 9:49:00 AM)

Yeah, I understand, the only reason would be to put Russia in it with them to stay off our backs should we get out after Syria.

If we are going to end up having to do it, why not get it over with?

A few posts required removal because they all resulted from a post mentioning a member that wasn't on the thread and it wasn't a comment that would be considered positive about the member. All quotes and responses to the post must be removed, unless it can remain and fit into the thread and fitting the thread as a stand alone comment.

Have a good day.
