Anyone else remember 1976 when it snowed in Miami?

Who knows; maybe we are working up to another year like 1816.

And again, Alabama is under a state of emergency, schools across the state are announcing they are closed tomorrow, children are rejoicing.

I do, indeed. My grandparents were living in Deerfield Beach and I had family in Miami Beach, as well. We went down, every year, sometime between February and Spring Break.

That year, in order to draw the college students down, after the snow (Ft. Lauderdale used to be THE PLACE for Spring Break), Ft. Lauderdale allowed nude beaches. There was a television show called "Real People". They sponsored a "Teeny Weeny Bikini Contest". The winner was wearing four white feathers and a gold chain (and wasn't shown below the shoulders on television).

Update from the DMV area, we are saying GOODBYE to winter with a bang.

March snow, has shut the DC area down.

Just about everything, including the federal government is closed today.
***Snow totals in the area range from about 2-9 inches right now, depending on where you live.***

I realize the snow we have had in this area, has been very mild compared to many of our neighbors up North. I can't imagine what it is like to live with massive amounts of snow/nor do I want to find out.[;)]

Goodbye winter!!!
It has been REAL!

DesFIP -> RE: Dear Winter... (3/5/2015 9:15:54 PM)

We got zero today. Not even a flurry. As the forecast was for 1 - 3 inches, I'm ecstatic. It stayed down in the city, didn't come up this far.

And by Sunday we should see temps above 40. Which is about damned time.

DerangedUnit -> RE: Dear Winter... (3/5/2015 9:46:11 PM)

Nooooooo! Winter don't end D: it was 79 today, I could actually go outside without passing out.... please summer take as long as you want.

DaddySatyr -> RE: Dear Winter... (3/5/2015 10:38:58 PM)

We just got a enough sleet/ice to make the roads treacherous, today.

Fuck Winter (and the trade winds it rode in on)!

20F right now in Northeast TX...still got some snow on the ground. Knee is killing me and I want a bacon double cheese burger so bad, with large fries (sick and tired of soup and grilled cheese sandwiches).

PyrotheClown -> RE: Dear Winter... (3/6/2015 10:08:58 AM)

What's this " Winter" you speak of?

AlabamaPrincess -> RE: Dear Winter... (3/6/2015 10:46:09 AM)

I'm in south-central Alabama...what happens "up north" (as I'm told is also Northern Alabama) is too bad (I say that only because my MIL lives there). Down here, yesterday it was 34-ish with rain. I think it got in the high 20s last night sometime, but I was in bed haha. Today? Sunny, high in the mid 50s. I'm good with that :D

shiftyw -> RE: Dear Winter... (3/20/2015 9:04:58 AM)

FOR THE RECORD- its like...20 degrees out here today and it snowed on tuesday.

Is anyone else still waiting for winter to fuck off?

DesFIP -> RE: Dear Winter... (3/20/2015 10:57:55 AM)

Snowing now. But so far it hasn't started accumulating. The Man's working on his truck, in the snow, on the driveway. He's crazy.

dcnovice -> RE: Dear Winter... (3/20/2015 11:18:25 AM)

My plea to Ole Man Winter:

Weather report on the news tonight gave the good news. Basically NO spring, it's gonna be colder than usual. Biiiiiiig surprise! No spring until June, by then it'll be summer. O yippee kai yay mofo! [>:]

DarkSteven -> RE: Dear Winter... (3/20/2015 5:46:04 PM)

Geez. We've had a gentle winter here in Colorado. And the croci and tulips are blooming. My bees are flying all over and coming back with pollen (I can't see if they've gotten nectar but I can see pollen). So the bees figure it's spring here.

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: Dear Winter... (3/20/2015 8:00:55 PM)

We're still getting frostbite warnings at night, snow has reduced since the temps are above 0 C during the day, more sunshine & longer days. The winds lately have been really brisk & cold.
