Hey, watch out, the last paragraph may be true ! They might actually have a couple of dogs. Bush ran a half dozen businesses into the ground. Don't go to Harvard. Y'know this has surfaced before, either here or elsewhere, I think it was months ago but Google seems to consistently find that page for "failure". Wonder why. T

yeah, this has been doing this for a while. The funniest thing is, failure doesn't appear anywhere on the page. Something that one of my friends pointed out in another forum is that if you open up Notepad, type in Bush (and nothing else), save and close the file, and then reopen it, something strange appears. After searching it appears to do that for any 4-letter word and is just a weird bug in the program.

T i read on another board the suggestion that it's google's way of protesting the pressure from homeland security to turn over the records of what we search for on google -- they've refused (if memory serves). all the other search engines (again, if memory serves) complied. a couple of years ago, the did the same thing with "weapons of mass destruction" -- the "i'm feeling lucky" button took you to an 404 error page spoof -- one that said something about there being no such thing as weapons of mass destruction. it was very funny....gotta love the humor of the google folks! jo

Google's search rankings aren't solely based on the number of times a word appears on a particular page. The reason Bush's page appears when you type in failure is because lots of other websites have been set up to link to Bush's page via the word "Failure" by people who oppose him. (You can actually add to this yourself if you have a website. Just type the word 'Failure' onto your page and turn it into a link to Bush's site.) If you do the original search again but click "Google Search" instead of "I'm Feeling Lucky" and look a little further down, you'll find that right-wingers have attempted to do the same thing all over the internet for Michael Moore, by linking on the word failure from their websites to Moores. Still funny as hell though. If you want to make his day even worse, I think you get the same result for "miserable failure" too. good to know -- thanks! and i think i read something similar after the weapons of mass destruction search....but i still like to believe that the good people at google are doing it on purpose. [8D]
