with all the tech out there, its doubtful it will be generous. money means everything and people mean nothing. same as it has always been. YAY history Regressive policies will always be the death of an empire willful ignorance and blame is the order of the day right now. and you cant blame anyone but yourselves. fuck the workers...fuck the world .

If you get injured on the job you have to get a lawyer right away. Most claims for workman's compensation are initially denied and you have to go to a hearing and challenge the denial. And, you have to pay out of pocket for any medical treatment done for a work related injury as the medical insurance screams "workman's comp" and doesn't want to pay.

Workman's Comp is very tough to prove, even when plain observation shows otherwise. One of the things I like about the ACA, was that it could give people some hope in handling the injuries and recovery of problems, while they wait for the insurance of the employer to 'kick in'. Since medically speaking, an injury that is not dealt with properly can become a long term disability on its own! Before the ACA, many of those with injuries either paid 'out of pocket' or went without all together. And there are hundreds of thousands of stories if not millions, of the negative impact that has had on people's lives. So why repeat it? I can understand this guy's problem. There are plenty of stories of those whom were against social security, the ACA, workman's comp, regulation of hazardous work environments, and even unfair labor practices. Until they were on the receiving end of it. After that point, they become a 'believer'. They understand the hell other people go through in terms they never wanted to admit in the first place. I would rather people not suffer their injuries in the first place, if I had any say in reality. Since I dont, I do the next best thing: support initiatives and concepts that help US Citizens out of tough problems. Problems they many not be able to solve on their own, or even with help from family/friends.

Peace Not all countries are like the US. Canada's workers comp is much fairer, and even tho there is universal healthcare, workers injured jump the cue and get what they need asap.

It is nice to hear that Canada has a more humane approach when dealing with workman comp injuries. This article was an eye opener, I know it has become a lot more difficult to qualify for disability benefits, but I didn't think obtaining worker's compensation benefits had become such an ugly nightmare. Shame

Shame trying to do anything in the US is a nightmare, there are gotchas all over the place.. you have to jump thru 3 times as many hoops as is necessary and there is always a long list of disqualifiers.. Your Obamacare is a horrific nightmare, you need to be a (very good) accountant to figure out your taxes and if you are an expat American you need to do US tax filing as well as your residence country filing, a lot of things in the US are overkill, both in penalties and paperwork.. and there are reasons for that, mostly so big business can charge you the maximum possible & then tack on fee after fee after fee or disqualify your claim so they dont have to pay you.. look at some of those agreements you sign, nearly every one now says you agree that you can not sue them in court & that if there is a problem it will go to arbitration and you wont be able to speak publicly about it afterwards.. even your banking agreement likely says that.. the whole system is set up to screw people.. like overdrafts.. in Canada you need to apply first to be able to overdraw your account, if you dont have an approved overdraft & there is no money in your account your card wont work & you dont get charged anything, here the banks want you to accidentally overdraw your account so that they can charge you a high overdraft fee or multiply overdraft fees.. And if you dont want that then you have to opt out but even then there are some payments (automatic withdrawals) that you cant opt out of, depending on the bank & its policy.. Its crazy..

Then you should be able to find out the facts from a rw position. BTW why is it you insist on using cuba and venezuela, when you have europe, UK, and Canadian concepts of workers comp to compare against the insurance run greed in the US
