MasterEmbrace -> RE: Being Scamed (3/13/2015 10:06:24 AM)

tic toc after all these years and still no fin domme section on here. Thus far today i have looked at three profile two are scammers - not who they say and using other people pictures

However this site does have a good scam section and what to look out for which is more than most other sites - find it read it.

If it wants your cash it is a con, scam...if the profile does not say fidomme (and even some of those who do are using nicked pictures so its probably some 80 year olde dude

Parasites care about cash and nothing else and will prey on peoples weakness and genuine naive honesty

No mistress I have every known would ask for cash, and i am older than time, save the odd proper findomme - not like many of them well the parasitic ones, nor what the represent or convey to the scene as a whole,

if you have any cash left can you get me a muffin and bottle of cheap tasty chardonnay

Move on - this one may be real, she may very well not be - she is most likely part of some scam gang. call it a learning experience. They exist on all sites.

How can you tell if your being scamed. I met a mistress on this site who I talked to and thought she cared, or seemed to care. She then wanted me to go on this other dating site and create a bunch of profiles and upgrade them to boost her popularity. She wanted me to create 1 new one a day and upgrade it for $30.00 but then it went down to 2 a week. After figuring numbers out I told her this is not right and told her I cant do this anymore. She kept harping on me to fo this saying things like "jjust a small price to make me happy" or "you promised." I couldnt afford it and she didnt seem to care.

Would any of you mistresses ever do anything like this or is this something totally different and unethical for lack of better words?

yes I fell for a scam... how do you tell if someone is serious or trying to scam you. Ive seen people say they are they want tribute or to control you financially.

every time we talked not about the website issue, she seemed to care. Asked me how I was doing, chat about mundane things, made me feel special, human for once. She sounded like she was serious about wanting to meet me... and shes really the only one that ever responded to me in messages. She even gave me her YM name. I thought there was something special.

My friend, caring and confidence are always part of the "confidence game"!

Years ago, scams were called confidence games for a reason ... your getting played by placing confidence in a person you don't know, while other person plays you for money.

Get it?

Truthfully, I had two different girls on here try to play the game with me this week ...
here are a couple defenses:

1. If she lives within 500 miles; tell her you will drive to her this coming weekend, and take her to dinner. Don't even mention $$$. If she brings it up $$$ tell her that after you meet, you will go to the bank and get her a credit card advance.

Then watch for this response. [:D]

She/he will tell you she just moved to the other side of the country to take care of a sick relative/friend.

The odds on this one are 95%. And that response is a guaranteed scam.

2. If she lives beyond driving distance ... tell her you will fly there for the weekend. Then follow the process I outlined in step number 1.

Then she will tell you "she is in charge, and wants it Western Unioned to her" ...

3. When they feed you a URL on any website (this scam usually directs you to a different website first, and it the invitation to move to another site happens in the first or sometimes second email). Then they send you a link to join another site. DO NOT USE THE LINK THEY SENT YOU! That thing is designed to steal your identity. Yet if you use it, they will tell you to do it more ... pocketing extra cash from your LOC until you run dry ... all while they are looking for other suckers and have multiple men going at the same time.

Myself, when I had this happen, I realized the URL site was BDSM dot ... so I joined directly, without using the URL she provided. ROFL

She dumped me like a hot potato ... after using venomous words with the phrase "NOT OBEYING HER" mixed in. ROFL

4. Be aware of the phone call from your "opposite sex". That could be a significant other luring you in ...

Hopefully, this gives you, the OP, some idea of how to handle scams.

Simply know, the mere fact you are on CS means you are like cut bait for sharks. And I say this even as I have met some wonderful Ladies, here, too!

Good luck!

She never mentioned money in her profile.

They always play a down on the luck story, once you start communicating. Yet you do have to listen to it ... for example, I am seeing a Lady who is down on Her luck right now ... but She is real. And we have been seeing each other for several months now. [:)]

And as a gentleman I can't say more. [:)] But $$$ didn't come up till we started discussing a relationship; next to each other!

The point is ... confidence games get played this way, too; except it is not real life interaction.

The key criteria to differentiate: it may cost you to meet in person and maintain a relationship. No doubt you are okay with this.

But if you haven't met ... and sometimes even if you have ... you have to thoroughly question the motivation and the reason behind the drive for $$$. 99.9% of the time it is a scam.

And if she really wants money, well ... there is a web site that is specifically focused on the SD/SB relationship. LOL Why would she be here? [:D]

Good luck to you, and I hope this thread helps.

PS: typically the scammer wants $$$ up front, for some reason (If you are a Dom, it might be for driving to you. So the scam is on both sides of the kneel.)
They will try to win your confidence ... in exchange for $$ up front. Then you give $$$ with nothing in return ...

In this situation, you are better off seeing a pro ...

Except with a pro, there is no emotional involvement.

And emotional involvement is the target that scammers prey on.

OP, your specific situation was number 3 above. He/She worked you with stolen pictures and a web site they got some reimbursement on, when you signed up with a new profile. This scam is all over the place and its a way to raise clicks and cash. Likely not even a female you communicated with.

Worse, it was some of those people overseas, stealing you ID and CC numbers ...

What I do know is other sites, that charge you to join, such as ALT and FemDomme catch them quick and run them out. CS is free, and thus you are at much higher risk.

Watch your wallet and CC .. they prey on your emotions and desires.

The quality of your life will depend on the the choices you make. You can always walk away and sometimes you should. Otherwise, you have the correct spirit, give 100% of yourself, but only if the situation is right.

I like that pic too. It points out that no matter how good the slogan, some situations require you to think about what you are doing and make situational judgements.

One might try getting from behind the computer screen and meeting people in real life.

You can't really be a sub nor a slave if you don't know ME. If you can't come cut my grass or clean my home or my car, exactly WHAT service can you provide me?

If you are only on the computer and BLINDLY follow "orders" to spend money then you may wish to reconsider your position in this lifestyle.

And YES I am very real, I am very active in my local communities in the Southeast region of the US. I am active in my local Leather Club, I assist other clubs and events. For me, if you want MY time and attention, you have to come to me and see me face to face...it is the easiest way for you to sit at my feet.

Hell, I can't figure out why all these profiles have phone numbers and ask you to text them??? It does not pass the smell test from the start. Is it some kind of reverse charge for texting the number? And the profiles always seem to mention they don't take calls, just for text purposes. Can anyone enlighten me? Has anyone texted the number only to find some $10 charge on their phone bill next month?

Moderator3 -> RE: Being Scamed (5/12/2015 3:33:11 PM)

First of all, someone on the thread stated that because CS is free you are at higher risk after stating that other sites run scammers out.

Wrong. If you don't have good sense, then you may be at risk anywhere, but although CS is a free site, that doesn't mean that we don't run them out. We have a small trusted staff that work night and day, doing that among other things. We appreciate site users that use the report features. We are out there working together to turn the tide, but there is a tidal wave that keeps on coming, trying to get passed us for even a few minutes because that could mean someone jumped quickly and responded to them. It is a constant battle, but we do battle it.

Anyone with a profile with a phone number should be reported by the button under their profile from the home page, as every report done this way is reviewed. Cmails also have a report feature and each of those is reviewed. There was a time when they were not, until a certain number of reports, but staff now, take the time to review every report.

There is no reason to be scammed if you are aware and not taking risks. Scammers are looking for an opportunity and someone to become an opportunity. No one can protect someone that is so hopeful that they leave common sense behind.

chastesissy4ver -> RE: Being Scamed (5/12/2015 3:41:24 PM)

A token $12 annual fee would rid the site of 99% of the fakes. However, CS knows that such a thing would reduce this site to the few hundred serious players that are out there, and would destroy the real revenue stream, advertising.

Please explain how that would work in detail and how you know that CS knows that would reduce the site in numbers. I have time for an afternoon laugh.

I have used that button before and will continue to help clean up our "space" by doing so again. I posed the question in order to better understand the "scam", assuming it is a scam of having a phone number for text in the profile. It feels, smells, and looks like a scam. I was hoping someone on the board would be able to enlighten me.

Glad to hear the report buttons are now being reviewed by staff rather than a computer "kicking" off a profile after a set number of reports. Seems logical and has a human making the deciding action.
