So tonight I've had messages from 4 different guys all asking me if I "believe in a woman's place".

<snip>
Why do they all have to talk in such generalities? I think I would probably respond a lot more favorably if they asked me if I believe in MY place to MY partner....then we might be have a conversation.

To be fair, one might point out that you just made a generalization yourself. The only reason I bring this up, is because even though I doubt that was your intention, sometimes it is hard to avoid.

However, to answer your question, I see it as a stereotype. Much like other stereotypes, I think it is wrong and absolutely despise it. It is one thing to think it, based on society and culture(because let's face, nobody is born with stereotypes), but to act upon it and not bother to oppose it is not right.

I just noticed this.....

When I said "they all" I wasn't talking about "all men".....because not all men have approached me in this way....and I know that "all men" or even "all Dominant men" feel this way.

What I meant by "they all" was all the men who even approach the concept of "place". They NEVER....and this is not a generality....they NEVER ask if I feel that being submissive is MY place. EVERY time I have had a man refer to my place in the relationship, he brings up the concept of a WOMAN'S place.

It works the other way too. As a male sub of course there's no place I'd rather be than under a woman's heel, but it's incredibly off-putting to see some dommes talk about female supremacy outside of their own dynamic with their partner using terms like "natural order" as if gender supremacy actually has an objective measure and has any basis in reality. What do you call that, anyway? Anti-misogyny? Misandry?

Harumph....
A woman's place is on planet earth or in near earth orbit and nothing you can say will change my mind.

I guess we can look forward to future Mars colonies being sausage fests.

LipstickLeuger -> RE: Why does this bother me??? (5/17/2015 12:05:51 PM)

Geeze, this is such crap. It annoys the heck out of me also.

I'm a Sub, but what does that have to do with 'my place'? My place is anywhere I so choose, including beneath my Dom, or not. I would be really curious about what that person or persons thought was 'a woman's place'. It would sure tell you a lot about their general mind set.

Arturas -> RE: Why does this bother me??? (6/14/2015 11:21:30 AM)

So many different answers, really. Some at their masters feet, sometimes beneath their Dom sometimes just generally angry. This was natural and this thread is good reading should anyone want to see how diverse women are in their walk. The submissive, the bottom and the slave, all have really different prespectives on their place while consistantly against throwing women into some generalized inferior category.

Nobody likes to be generalized as inferior and nor should you. I believe you all know there is a womans place in the natural order and it is not "inferior" but complementary to your other who fills that empty space your life as you do his. Should you find yourself at his feet and happy to do so then perhaps you will think back to the time someone here wrote that this is somehow inferior and smile at the foolishness of that notion knowing that the person the OP referenced surely does not have anyone except a truly inferior person at his feet and certainly you are not her.

Live well.

It also reveals something inherently disappointing in a man who would ask that question. No one woman OR man can define the place of an entire sex...unless they have degraded them in their own mind.

It never ceases to amaze me how much members of the same sex tick the same way because of it ...
Want an example? I hate buying underwear for myself, it just makes me queasy. Turns out that most of my buddies feel the same.
Now we buy boxer briefs for each other and it's just fine.
