Even if they later try and get more, it's pretty rare for a scam artist to send you genuine money first.

I probably read this wrong, excuse me if I did.

 
It is Probablly not going to clear in three weeks or so,
and the bank will want to get us for fraud
and want the money back, but we are God fearing
people and so we will let this go.
 
It is tragic to say the least,
We will update this as time goes by.

Am I the only person who realizes that "free medical care" like they have in Canada or England actually means "health care subsidized by the government and paid for out of taxpayers money?"

We actually have that in the United States.  Go into a public hospital, get your heart transplant after waiting days or weeks, the hospital gets paid 4x what the hospital in England gets paid for
the procedure.  Besides which, socialized medicine (as they have in England and Canada which is subsidized by the government) allows for PREVENTATIVE CARE so the person doesnt actually have to crawl into the emergency room at death's door and get expensive surgery to fix.

I hear people argue against things like employer health plans and government sponsored universal health care, and I just want to throw a full colostomy bag at them.

It is like perscription coverage under Medicare.  Drug companies dont want to have to negotiate drug prices with the federal government.  Erego, no perscription drug coverage under Medicare.  We, as the consumer, get screwed once more.  And thrown in jail if we go to Canada to fill our perscriptions.

Makes me want to emigrate to Fiji and pick coconuts for a living until I die of some weird, unnamed tropical illness which is not cured by my getting an orangutan tattoo on my penis.

Just me, could be wrong, etc.

ok. It must be a difference between the U.S. and U.K. I can't imagine a bank here allowing you to cash a cheque for that amount of money without the funds being cleared and withdrawn from the original senders account first, no matter how legitimate it looked.  I know mine certainly wouldn't.

As fas as I'm aware we have a quarantine law that means they are kept in kennels to be cleared of rabies etc for six months before the owner is allowed to pick them up.

We have the NHS, we treat first and... thats it, no bill. Doesn't matter if they are rich or poor there is treatment available for all.

How can A bank Cash A check and clear it, if only
to find out in a few weeks or so, that it is Fake?

Hello everyone,just some points of clarification. Bank certified checks, international or domestic are not  check's drawn on a individuals account, but one that is drawn against the bank itself. The normal operating procedures for banks are, if you want a certified check or cashiers check the bank removes the money from your account and places it in a master bank account for that perpose.The reason why  the scam works soo well is, because those bank instruments are supposed to be declared funds. The bank where the instrument is drawn upon  clears the check against the master account which can take for ever in reality. If it is a large bank or if it is a small bank located in a far off world this can take up to 6 weeks.  The home bank where the person who recieved the check/instrument  issues the credit simply because it is drawn not on the other party who drew it up, but on the bank itself. It is like when a bank issues a line of credit the recieving bank has to verify it's authenticity.It used to take upwards of two months for verification, now it can take a few weeks. Scammers take advantage of the lag time between the two banks.In the end the person receiving the bad check will have to pay the bank back, if not they can and will be charged with bank fraud. Been there done that. Luckily  for myself we had enough money to cover the expense, but it did cost me a company in the end. In the end the scammer got away with the merchandise and got away with not being prosecuted since they were in another country.I never take checks, certified checks, or cashiers checks. I never count the money so to speak until it has cleared the bank it came from. I further contact the bank who issued the check first and get verification from them independtly before I even submit it for payment.This  can easily be done today. by doing a search online for the bank and the routing numbers for them and call the main branch.Either way it will guard against losing money and possible long term litigation.hope this helps Be well Be safe Good luck!!
