Bit controversial here, but I figured we need a little bit more of these hot button topics to see where people stand on them. I think aside from breaking of a hard limit, having a brand from a prior Owner/Master/D is a little bit on the taboo/scary side for some.(It really depends, small tasteful symbol/initials vs giant tramp stamp saying "Big Daddy Mike's slut"). I have been chatting a bit with a sub I really enjoy and he has branding from a previous relationship he revealed to me today. I said "it reflects where you have been" but it might be my mutual respect for other ladies, especially other Lady Dommes that makes me have this sentiment. I even have a light affection for his prior Dominant because he seems so decisive in his submission which is really lovely. I would love to get the thoughts of others about "previous branding" or branding in general. Feel free to be candid.

I see brandings no different from tattoos, fundamentally. Their permanent nature means you should (in my view) think long and hard before you put one on your body in reference to your relationship. I tend to assume anyone with a relationship tattoo or brand on them either did not make that decision lightly, or they did and learned their lesson. Either way, not my place to pass judgment.

Someone very close to me is widowed. He had her name tattooed on his arm in Aurebesh while they were married and after being together for several years (she had a similar tattoo for him.) After her passing, it became a memorial. I take a similar view to you in that this tattoo shows where he's been, and agree with the "body as a temple" mentality in that he may decorate his however he wishes.

Well saying "big daddy Mike's slut" would be a huuuugggeee brand.... one word each leg the rest on the back maybe :P I have old initials bramded on my leg and a few other tattoo ones, all are barely visible since its been years and my skin pushes out tattoos and heals over scars so in the right sunlight they all kust shimmer and I look like holographic art... or a twilight vampire

Daddy and I have joked about it, he was considering carving his name all the way across my butt, I said it would be fine since I've had 4 doms with the same name it wouldnt lower my prospects much :P

wow Deranged, you're very unique. :-) Thanks Roxie. Sounds like a touching tale. He was previously married to his D and they had a very long relationship so it's always nice to get perspectives where branding is concerned.

I have thought about getting a tattoo of my ex's poetry, but I haven't decided cause it never seems fair to those who are in my future.
He passed away and he was really my best friend and I'd love to remember him that way. But in some ways, idk.

On someone else I don't think it would matter to be unless it was big and crazy.
I'd like to be branded I think but I'd need a lot of love after because I'm pretty scared of it. I'd have to really be into the person who did it. I'd never get there name or initials for me- but a symbol would be something I'm into.

It's one of those things that's kinda surreal happening.... human skin isn't very tough so trying to do it like cattle is too hot, mine cooled down top much first and was slower, I didn't feel anything but it made a noise like when you just pour milk on rice krispies and smelled like popcorn, probably the fat content in my thighs ha mmm butter. Popcorn gave me sensory flashbacks for a long time, ive wondered if everyone smells different or if it was some weird wiring that made me smell popcorn but there arent very many people to compare notes with on that

I say if you can't do what you want with your body, what's the point of calling it yours. It's no different than any vanilla person getting a partner's name tattooed on them though, so it doesn't seem too controversial to me. Personally I wouldn't like a girlfriend with her ex-partner's graffiti scrawled all over her.

Any permanent markings outwardly signifying ownership is one of my very hard limits. I understand the "showing where you've been" thing, but I believe that getting someone's name or initials permanently put on one's skin is not necessary to accomplish this.

I would also find it a turnoff to have a partner with his ex's name or initials on his body.

Both Steve and me have an M & S small tattoo on our skin but its intertwined and unless you pointed out it was our initials you wouldn't know. I have a lot of branding work on my shoulder which is as fine as cotton thread and looks like fine white tattoo work.

Would I consider someone with someone else's name on them? Sure I would but if it wasn't a memorial and we ended up being long term I would probably suggest they had it removed or re-done to cover it over.
