Today brought several simple joys:

-- Easter decorations in my apartment
-- Cuddling with the cat
-- Reading an engaging book (Mark Updegrove, Indomitable Will: LBJ in the Presidency)

NookieNotes -> RE: Find Joy in Each Day (3/30/2015 2:41:31 AM)

Yesterday: I ran the next leg in my couch-to-5k and I relaxed the rest of the day.

That was simply joyous.

Waking up to snow was not the joyous part. Having it since melt with the forecast saying we'll reach 50 was.

It was tough finding joy today.

The depression, fueled by pain and exhaustion, has been pretty rugged, and I've been crying all evening.

But I do get a nice lift when I look at my Easter decorations, a too-rare instance of tending my own spirits. Today, I decided the table needed a bit more pizzazz than just a pastel cloth and modest centerpiece. So I set it for imaginary guests. Who knows: folks might show up with Thai food! [:)]

Yesterday: black truffle almonds (OMG, squee!), date night, the joy of eating a shared mushroom swiss burger and flirting together and with the waitress.

That photo is SO festive, dcnovice! LOVE it!

Love your Easter tree, DC! I hung little egg ornaments on my decorative twigs and they make me smile, too.

Yesterday, my joy: outside on my deck. The sun shining and the sound, nothing could be heard other than birds. Just the sound of their calls to each other. It was peaceful.

DC my mom...and you it seems... loved to decorate a Christmas tree for Easter... just seeing it in the background brought warm memories to mind...so it is a joyful day and I thank you.

Lol... she kept a tree up all year and every single holiday she would decorate it appropriately. She lived full of joy and made holidays special to the whole family... Something tells me you are that kind of person as well....special.

Well, yesterday, I was supposed to work and recover from the weekend. Instead, joy seeped into my day:

Pet surprised me and came over for lunch.

Three girlfriends reached out about spending time. I managed to work them all together, and got to see all three.

AND I ran day 7 of 27 days of couch-to-5k. OMG! During, it sucked so bad, but I felt good for doing it, like I committed to. Since I got pneumonia, I've not not run like this, and I'm determined to make it through this program. So, yay!

This made my day today, even without the sound....
https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=906635969389350&fref=nf

it was 32f outside this morning, but being able to see how the local squirrels and cardinals are causing havoc with the other critters around us is a good way to start the day.
During the winter, we had a camera focussed on the birdfeeder and the squirrels, as it was far to cold to sit outside, We also visit the local boat club where they have mating pairs of swans, that we have followed for a few years
THe pics were from two years ago.

Sources of joy on a rainy Good Friday:

-- Dad turned 80 yesterday.
-- He, Mom, and I are meeting for dinner tonight.
-- I broke through my writer's block and got two big tasks done.
-- They turned out well.
-- A security guard at work whom I hadn't seen in ages complimented me on weight loss. (I didn't tell him how it was achieved. [;)])
-- I have Easter plans that don't involve a hospital.
-- Wanda Sykes is making me laugh.
-- My job lets me work from home when I need to.
-- It's payday.
-- The iced tea is kicking in.

I just spent three hours, examining the sorrowful mysteries. The peace and calm that I am feeling, right now is un-matched, for my money.

DaddySatyr -> RE: Find Joy in Each Day (4/6/2015 11:13:47 AM)

Yesterday was a wonderful day. I got to speak with all of my uncles (one lives right next door to that GE place that burnt down in Louisville and, early on, we had no indication of just how bad it was/how much danger he might have been in).

I was able to dodge the ignorant family members of 'er indoors.

Today, I am on my way to meet with a guitar player and drummer that seem like really good guys and we might start making noise, on a regular basis. There might even be a few shekels, coming our way.

Life is good. School is going well. The sun is shining. It's almost 70°. I've got great people in my life and I'm fortunate enough to not give a fat rat's ass about the ones that don't matter.

I'm enveloped by joy.

Michael

Eastertide Joys:

-- beautiful service at my beloved, quirky church,
-- being greeted like the prodigal son,
-- nice talks with my cousin's son as he chauffeured me to and from Easter dinner,
-- great time with family,
-- scrumptious food,
-- seeing the galley for my cousin's next book,
-- loved ones' delight in the baskets I brought,
-- gorgeous weather,
-- Mets victory on opening day,
-- and so much more. [:)]

SweetAngel43211 -> RE: Find Joy in Each Day (4/7/2015 5:56:17 PM)

I got to see my niece and nephew for the first time in almost two months on Saturday when they came over to spend the night. On Sunday, I got to head over to my cousin's house for Easter dinner and spend a couple of days at her house instead of home alone with only my Beta Fish Floyd for company.

Today, I got to go grocery shopping and it felt really good that I was able to buy them with my own money for the first time since I broke my arm back in January. I was off of work from January 19th until March the 3rd and since it was a non work related injury I had no income for those 6 weeks. I had some savings but they went to pay the rent in February along with my student loan payments.

I have had to rely on family to send me money so I could eat and such and I hated it! It feels good to be self sufficient and know that I am building my savings back up while being a productive member of society again.

Kaliko -> RE: Find Joy in Each Day (4/7/2015 6:46:26 PM)

Being able to spend my day in a comfortable office, with piano music in the background to my heart's content, surrounded by plants and pictures and hot coffee, and being lucky enough to enjoy my work immensely.

Every now and again, looking up from my desk and seeing the countdown on my wall, and taking note of how much smaller the number has become, feeling warm and content to let the days wind down.

Receiving good news today - something to work toward. I love starting things. I am at the very beginning, now. I love being in this spot.
