Agreed with you both. Exactly what happened to me while I lived in Miami. They lock you into a contract but I paid almost $2000 for the service though. The upfront cost is entirely nonrefundable and there's also a lot of horror stories about it online. I'd say the no-no is the easier alternative. My skin is sensitive to razors so I love electrolosis.

Is a contract pretty standard? I've never had one. I pay as I go. I would definitely be nervous about a contract.

That's laser, though. Those kinds of deals are actually pretty standard, especially since there has to be at least 8-13 weeks between treatments, to allow the skin to rest and the new hair growth to begin.

No no! works more like laser than like electrolysis.

Electrolysis requires each hair to be treated one at a time, with a small metal probe. If the hair is in the growth stage, it is permanent, but if it is not, it will have to be treated again when it is in the growth stage.

Laser and no no! work on multiple hairs at a time. Electrolysis is one-by-one. That's why it takes so long.

So, comparing electrolysis to laser or no no! is kinda like comparing apples to oranges. And $99 for a year of unlimited is a MUCH better deal for electrolysis than laser. And could happen, again, based on what exactly they are offering and reputation.

Why not just just get a lip wax?

I would never let anyone near my face with a needle.

Oh my bad, I should take more notice of the difference between the offerings I thought it was the same one I had seen and passed on to a male sub who wanted electrolysis for his "sissy summer". He hasnt gone yet for his first session.
Apologies for being confusing:)

Because electrolysis is permanent. As in, really, truly permanent. I know I've heard this claim before - a quick Google search seems to support it. Laser treatment (or other methods) will reduce hair growth, but electrolysis is the only method of hair removal considered to be permanent by the FDA and the AMA. (So I'm reading...)

Yeah, I knew all that. But waxing doesn't cause scars.

Of course I am not dark haired or hairy, so it's a choice.

Mom uses the Nair for the face off and on. I plan to get the no-no for myself when I get some of these bills paid off.

Yes, a very good price. In fact, much too good to be legit. I'd be wary.

Good reminder!

Check the competence level of the business offering the service.

If not done properly, permanent discoloration of the skin can result. A lady friend of Italian heritage has some scarring that looks like a bit of black pepper on her upper lip from some badly done electrolysis.

The process is using an electric shock from a sharp needle to burn out the hair root after all. Too deep leaves scarring.

I have full on black hair, and on my whole lip and my whole chin an d on my chin it gets very long, like prepubescent boy growing first goatee long.. I do get waxed , it'd just be interesting to try something that might lessen it.

What kind of electrolysis is it and will they let you speak to previous clients? That price screams "too good to be true" to me.

Waxing can have unfortunate outcomes too. Not on Valentines day but the.time before I broke out with a very nasty impetigo infection. And ppl have been burned too.

Neither does electrolysis when it's done by a competent practitioner.

Laser is permanent as well, when it treats the hairs. It is like a shotgun. The bullet holes are permanent, but they don't all hit the targets.

So, they say that laser is permanent hair reduction. For example, on my legs, after a round of six, I have maybe one hair for every 3" square area. Very light and fine. So much that I forget to do anything with it for weeks, then notice a 1/2" growth that is barely visible, and Pet can't even really feel.

I will get those taken care of soon, probably by electrolysis, but would never have tried a large area like that with electrolysis, because pain. And tediousness...

LOL!

I love a good bargain, but if it's too good to be true.... well we all know the rest of this song.

Without seeing the actual offer, I can only offer my opinion. First off what you want done is not one small area. Your chin and lip are probably going to be considered two distinct separate areas. This is based on if you go to a wax place, lips and chin are always listed as separate items.

I'm guessing your groupon offer is for one area only. Most likely you will need to buy 2 offers.

Second at least here, this is how groupon works; it is a marketing tool to get people in the door. It is not set up for the business to make money. For example I own a pizza place. My large cheese pizza retails for $10. It costs me $3 to make. I hire groupon to provide a 50% off large pizza ($5) Now from that $5, Groupon gets $2.50. I get $2.50 LESS credit card fees (I know this from owning a business and considering a groupon offer) So I'm loosing money each time someone uses the offer. BUT hopefully they love the pizza and will return time and time again. So let's skip ahead to the your offer. $99 for a year. Let's assume they are making $50 from each offer sold.

My opinion is that for the $50 they will be getting, there is going to be a lot of fine print.
