A and B are the same shade.

I honestly think this is the most convincing optical illusion I've ever seen. I mean, I've seen more entertaining ones, but this one truly threw me.

The letters "A" and "B"? Or the squares they're on?

If it's the former, I can reasonably believe that.

If the latter, er, what planet are you (general you) from?

Edited to add… or is it the rows they're on, peon? That might be more plausible to me.

Surprisingly it's true. I saw this illusion several years ago and couldn't believe it either. So, I loaded the picture into my Paint Shop Pro program and checked the RGB values of both squares, and they are exactly the same.

I did something similar with Irfanview - the freebie picture editor. But, even now, I'm wondering if there's something wrong with Irfanview or a trick's been played with the coding in the original picture, somehow.

I'd never seen this particular illusion before today. Weird indeed.

Let me see if I can get this pic to load. Today I again place the picture into my Paint Shop Pro, and using the "paint brush" feature I first captured the RGB value for square "A", then drew a continuous line through all the squares in the pic. As I said, the line is continuous, and I never changed the color. Yep, the color, even along the line seems to change. Still weird!

Facken screwy, isn't it? With most optical illusions - in fact, possibly all - that I've seen, other than this one, I can see what the illusion is once I've been told (or worked it out). But I can't with this one. Square B *still* looks much lighter than square A in that original picture.

Optical illusions gimme a headache. And make me think of Mallrats.

So all I see is a sailboat, an ocean, and maybe even some of those big-titted mermaids doing some of that lesbian shit.

That was also odd. I found this chessboard pic while on a search for that dress one.

Interesting. To me, she suddenly started turning the other way when I looked away then looked back again.

its fun to show to a room full of people at the same time. most will see her going one direction, some see her going the other, eventually most everyone learns how to make her change direction...
