ALL RIGHTWINGERS need to get voter ID. Fuck that constitution.

Yeah, the left wingers best jump on the voter ID bandwagon so as to not let Republicans steal all the elections.

LOL. The clowns they are running, they got no chance, no rightwing brothers are governors of major states.

I still can't see what the objection is to showing identification to verify you are the person listed on the voter's registry.
In many venues; you have to produce identification whenever a police officer asks. "Refusal to identify" can be a misdemeanor offense. Not that I agree with the gestapo like "show me ze papers" attitude in such venues. But requiring id for walking down the street but not for casting a vote seems so... Alice in Wonderland I guess.

Yeah, the 24th amendment is the big deal, it has even stronger language than the 2nd.

Nope, no correlation between forbidding a tax exclusion from being able to vote and proof of identity to vote.

Furthermore, a poll tax is not unlawful. Just requiring payment of a poll tax for being able to vote is unlawful. A "poll tax" refers to a per person tax. At one time, many states used a poll tax receipt as one of the required proofs to meet residency requirements to register to vote.

Although residency requirements for voter registration have fallen by the wayside as part of civil rights reforms. There is still a disenfranchisement of voters in our modern, mobile, society.

Many don't get to exercise their franchise due to employment making them unable to return to their home voting precinct for an election. And, the convoluted requirements for an absentee ballot make them rarely implemented.

Some sort of proof of residency is STILL required to register to vote. (details vary by state) Is it unreasonable to require verification that the registered voter is actually the person standing there wanting a ballot?

OH, absolutely. See I am taxed, and if the government gives a 'freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' ID to you as a ne'er do well welfare patient, I am the one wronged by a poll tax.

The rest of it is asswipe, including your links I have not read because they dont say what you imply. Because one only need read the 24th amendment to see that poll taxes are not lawful.

From the comments I have read on here the biggest objection they have to it, is that the republicans want it. They dance between claiming there is no fraud to pointing out right wingers who commit it. Then they cry and wail about those terrible republicans who are using it to stop the left from voting but when asked why only people on the left have a problem getting id they can't seem to answer. What a shame they didn't take all the energy and put it to ensuring everyone get an id. Problem solved.

mnottertail -> RE: Proof that rightwing voter fraud is pervasive. (4/7/2015 7:59:26 AM)

The biggest objection is that it is unconstitutional. Remember, you can spew as much asswipe as you want, but we really did want to see Captain Magic Underpants' tax returns.

Nothing unlawful at all about a poll tax.
Requireing you pay your poll tax as a requirement for voting is illegal.

Many don't get it that "poll" is an old word for "head". A poll tax is a tax PER PERSON.
Still, voter ID has absolutely no correlation with the 24th amendment.

Check your constitution, pal. That's at least twice you have slobbered that dishonest propaganda.

Amendment XXIV

Section 1.

The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state by reason of failure to pay any poll tax or other tax.

Section 2.

The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
