The NRA,that organ of propaganda for the gun industry, the very same organization that that advocates guns in our children's schools has cited safety concerns for banning actual working guns from it's own convention !!!!!!
That's right folks ,according to the Tennessean newspaper the group will require that thousands of firearms on display be nonoperational.
Apparently guns don't kill people, but working guns do.......lol

Wasn't this policy enacted by the owner of the venue and their insurance carrier, not the NRA?

Not offering a link in the OP doesn't equate to being unable to asshole.
Since you asked so nicely though I thought I would do you the favor and find it for you, evidence suggests you couldn't find your own asshole with a road map,so here you go.....lol

I have no idea Aylee, all I know about it is what I read in the piece in the link I provided for the idiot.
Either way though it's still funny, they can find a way to advocate for guns around children but can not secure a gun friendly zone for their own convention ?
Come on the optics alone are a hoot and a holler

Local laws against concealed or open carry at festivals or conventions can play a part. In my local area, when you go to a gun show the weapons you carry in have to be "visibly safed". This usually entails a bright red tie wrap rendering the weapon unable to be loaded.

All in all, this thread seems to be more trolling the meme that anyone with an interest in firearms is a slavering mass murderer waiting to go postal.

Yes, there are the people who have no ability to find simple fact, instead awaiting email alerts from slobbering fascist bloggers such as drudge, ijreview and so on to get their speaking spew.

No this thread is simply an attempt to look at the dichotomy of advocating for guns in school zones while rendering some 12,000 guns inoperable ,for safety reasons ,at your own convention.
Just as stated in the OP.
You folks don't have to like that, but it certainly isn't a tos violation,it's certainly true as far as it goes....so there's nothing wrong with the thread per se.
Refute the facts if you like, argue the merits if you like but deal with it as is.
Me,I'll just keep laughing my ass off while I watch the spinning and deflection going on.

Thank you for the belated link mike

From the comments section under the article you linked to, credited to one Dan Friedman of the NYDN:

The NRA convention is obeying the local laws for a Gunshow (which as guns are sold there is a Gun show). From the NRA convention web page-

"During the 2015 NRA Annual Meeting & Exhibits, lawfully carried firearms will be permitted in the Music City Center with the proper license in accordance with Tennessee law. Bridgestone Arena prohibits the possession of firearms. When carrying your firearm, remember to follow all federal, state and local laws."

You still miss the point.
I'm done trying to connect the dots for you
I get the feeling you are entirely happy with your willful ignorance so please do carry on

~ FR ~

This comes up every year at the NRA meeting, whether or not the facility allows carry. It was fine in Pittsburgh last year, illegal in Charlotte, legal in Phoenix (except for events with alcohol), legal in Louisville, and before that was St. Louis, where it’s just not allowed by the venue. ~pagunblog

I didn't find anything that clarifies whether the non-operational rule for the Nashville convention blocks legally carried guns (CCW holders) or whether it only applies to the display guns on the convention floor, but it doesn't seem to make much sense to only allow legal carry of a non-operational gun.

Edited to add: I just saw Sanity's post, so there's answer.

K.

While I have been a life member of the nra for more than 50 years I have some issues with them. This has just become one more. One would think that they would only pick venues that would not cause an issue. Why pick a place where it is obvious that your detractors will ambush you? One would think they would have someone in p.r who might give them a heads up since wlp seems to have his someplace where the sun don't shine.

One would think......
Apparently they didn't.
Did anyone notice the tittle of the thread...or my assertion that the optics of this thing was just too good to ignore ?
That's all I'm saying here, the NRA that organization that preaches to us about the wrongness of gun fee zones is holding their convention in a venue that insists the weapons on display be non operational.
Too funny to make up,way too funny

Wouldn't it be amusing if over four hundred Muslim Arab Americans showed up with guns? Then be told they have to make their guns 'in-operate-able' by the NRA? I wonder what would happen shortly after that.....

Because one's religion nor ancestory should be a barrier to a firearm, right?

I really do not care who owns a gun. I knew a puffin once who owned 416 rigby that she carried in a gun rack of her 48 studibaker pick up truck.
