This is just sickening. I couldn't stop crying after reading it.

Police to Arrest Mom of Quadriplegic Man With Cerebral Palsy Abandoned in Cobbs Creek Park

Philadelphia Police plan to arrest a woman after she allegedly left her quadriplegic son with cerebral palsy alone in the woods for over five days with nothing but a blanket and a Bible.

The 41-year-old mother is accused of leaving her 21-year-old son in a wooded area along Cobbs Creek Parkway near Catharine Street around 11 a.m. Monday before traveling to Montgomery County, Maryland to visit her boyfriend.

But I just can't get my heart around the idea that someone actually did this.

Status: offline 		if the story is correct, its amazing the poor man did not die from exposure or dehydration. he must be in terrible shape now from the experience...

Actually, he is in stable condition at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He was treated for dehydration and malnutrition. If he had been left for even 24 more hours he probably would have died.

While I can understand the profound amount of work and frustration of caring for a completely disabled child I cannot imagine, even in the darker recesses of my mind, just tossing the disabled person out into the woods.

I agree, ~stef, however I've been running into quite a few posts and I am comfortable declaring a winner. We still have many more categories that the jury is still out on... the competition is fierce ya know... but I think we've found vapid.
