A man allegedly carved his nickname into a woman's forearm with a knife while keeping her as his sex slave for a month, an ACT court has heard.

The 25-year-old man, who cannot be identified, pleaded not guilty in the ACT Magistrates Court to charges of rape, kidnapping, forcible confinement, assault and sexual servitude.

Police alleged the two people began a relationship last December.

By late January they had moved in together, but then the relationship soured, the court heard.

The man allegedly confiscated the woman's mobile phone, demanded she give him all her wages, and cook and clean for him.

Police said he also controlled all of the woman's contact with friends and family.

Court documents showed that at one stage, the pair went to a Canberra police station, where the woman was told to "show them a happy face" in an attempt to call off concerned friends.

Police said the relationship became physically and sexually violent, and that the woman was raped multiple times over a month-long period after threats to harm and kill her were made.

The documents allege the man threatened to cut her legs off and take them to Darwin, before he fled to Melbourne.

The documents also allege the man said words to the effect of "if I'm going to kill you, I will tell you first".

Police said the woman took advantage of a brief opportunity to escape while she was made to wait outside the man's workplace.

The man is due to return to court next month for a decision on whether he will be committed to stand trial.

I wonder why he can't be identified? Perhaps it is more about protecting the identity of the victim? Weird and troubling stuff.

The reason they say 'allegedly' and don't identify him, is probably because he has yet to stand trial.
A pizza delivery driver with his own personal dick sucking slave... That's the thing that got me. I mean come on... And he handles your food! It's not hygienic!

Is that an Australian law thing?

Does he handle food with his dick?

Seriously though, good for her that she had the presence of mind to find an escape route for what was apparently not consensual.

I don't know if it's a specific Australian thing, but I assume the thinking behind the discretion is that while an accusation is unproven, naming a person is basicly implicating them. The implication of guilt can damage a person's reputation and might hang over their head even if they are later acquitted.

And I'm not arguing with it-- it's just something that's pretty much unheard of here in the US, so I wondered about it.

Not at all. It's frequently reported that way.

And not just allegedly.

Because if you're wrong, you can be sued for libel. But--alleged is accurate, guilty or not.

I think this was in reference to identities not being disclosed before a verdict is rendered.

All things being equal, deciding to never eat at McDonalds again is probably a wise life choice.

Besides, I would probably get a better class of Master at a slightly higher class place, like Arby's or something.
