ORIGINAL: LipstickLeuger The ACLU needs to STFU. Seriously. As someone who is part of the LGBT community, I REALLY wish they would shut it. I am fully capable of speaking up if someone disrespects me. Making people feel bad for honest mistakes, and attempting to make it into hate is WRONG. People knew her as Bruce and anyone who is trans knows that this is going to happen from time to time. It was not something that anyone did on purpose and ya know what? We all get our foots in our mouths from time to time. I have heard lots of things about gay/trans people(mostly because no one ever thinks I am gay so I get to be somewhat stealth LOL) and honestly, 99% of them are totally not meant to offend, but are either due to nervousness, trying to be funny, or foot in mouth syndrome. Maybe 1% or slightly less than that are actual offensive comments, said on purpose, to be a dick. To think that ALL comments are automatically hateful is very ignorant. This whole statement by the ACLU is bullshit, because no one was hating anyone! Their statement makes me hate them, though...... How about this. During the days of my misspent youth, because my older brother was a world class athlete, I used to work out with and share a locker room with Bruce. I haven't seen or talked to him in more than thirty years. I haven't the faintest idea if he'd even remember me since I was a kid brother of someone he worked out with. So, say I saw him today. Say we began to chat about the good ol days of track and field in San Jose. I'm betting there would be awkwardness. Soooo...is any of that actionable by the ACLU? Probably...if you happen to mention what a lean, buff stud he was at the time. Because he was. Which brings up and interesting point. My brother graduated from high school 6'-6" tall and weighed 190 lbs. nine months later at college he was 6'-6" tall and weighed 260. The college put him on a steroid regimen. Track and field guys in San Jose used to weight life at the YMCA. I'd walk in to the weight lifting room a normal high school kid and bench press 305 pounds. Usually, the guy who was spotting me, whoever that was, was benching something like 550 lbs. Pure steroid use. You did not make it to the Olympics back then if you didn't use steroids. Now, the interesting thing is, it would be illigal for Bruce to use steroids for atheletic performance but I'll bet Caitlyn is getting a lot just to be.
