... The reason we have companies abusing the H1B system is that IT workers do not have any sort of lobby/representation is DC. If we did there would be no H1B program. This is the very essence of why unions still matter - the power of the CEO/boardroom must be balanced. ...

I want to make sure I have this right - because I think lobbyists are one of the first things that need to be eradicated: You're calling for more lobbyists. Do I have that right?

Michael

What I assumed he meant, but he seems able to speak for himself, is that IT guys don't have Union representation so have no voice in the big game. God knows unions buy enough politicians now, just look at the recent trade vote.

I highlighted the part that really set me to respond. I'm guessing the "is" in what I highlighted was a typo that was supposed to be: "in '; giving us: "IT workers do not have any sort of lobby/representation in [sic] DC".

That kind of sounds like lobbyists. I guess, it could be a call for some kind of representation for different segments of the population, but isn't that what lobbyists are?

I guess I could be wrong, but that isn't the way it reads to me.

Concur. As a Free Market guy I have no problem with any person negotiating the best dollar for work product. Unions serve for that and as far as that goes I respect the. However, they've stepped beyond that into the big buying politicians game now. I'd like to see a few lefties trying to reign them in and then I'd be more ready to believe they were serious about money in politics. As of now, I believe they just don't like other people's money. Unions yes, Koch's no. That sorta thing.

Disney did not actually hire the H1B's and therefore did not have to post notice.
The hired a firm to take over various aspects of their IT operations and that company brought in the H1B's
There's no way Disney officials did not know this would happen.

The reason we have companies abusing the H1B system is that IT workers do not have any sort of lobby/representation is DC. If we did there would be no H1B program. This is the very essence of why unions still matter - the power of the CEO/boardroom must be balanced.

As for Capitalism in general, we are seeing the ultimate goal: extreme, concentrated wealth, dirt-cheap labor, and a bought-and-paid-for electorate. Capitalism in and of itself is not evil so long as there are strong, enforced regulations to keep it honest. If the housing bubble wasn't proof enough that strong regulation is needed then you're simply ignoring reality.

Up to the last paragraph I was with you. The housing bubble was because of leftist regulation. It had nothing to do with the free market.

The housing bubble had nothing to do with leftist regulations as I've pointed out at least twice on this forum. It was pure unmitigated, unregulated greed. [It] was selling shit paper (MBS) that got a corrupt AAA rating from those in on the game. Nothing more or less.

Capitalism has nothing to do with a free market.

The last thing the capitalist wants...is a free market. He wants HIS market, monopoly, duopoly, oligopoly, as concentrated and as unregulated as his money can buy.

And the fact that you've declared it to be so, such it is.

You know, they do have medicine now for that sort of thing. I've mentioned that to you before. Jees, and you and jester say I know nothing. Pull your head out of your ass and breath a little fresh air.
