Seems disney is hireing H1B employees to replace American workers and saved thousands of dollars.

To me that means that Disney cut salaries and benefits.

Not all employees were laid off. Some transfered if there were positions available. Some retired. Some were just let go.

Not a good thing to import H1B employees to replace existing employees claiming there aren't enough existing employees.

Omg! That quintessentially American icon - Disney World - is acting in an un-American way! Seems like not even Disney's Mum-and-apple-pie-as-American-as you-can-get image is going to be allowed to stand between the company and a cheap dollar. If they have to dump American workers and import foreigners to do their jobs then so be it.

As Lucy said that's capitalism in all its finery folks. Gotta love it!

Pretty typical of a rabid leftist to try to claim that one such company or incident is an indictment of all capitalism, American values etc

Havent seen you chime in on the "Marxism at work" thread yet though, where we see the devastating results when an entire country is ravaged by your preferred (though serially failed) alternative to capitalism

I wonder what took Disney so long to do this? Had they done this years ago, think of all the money they could have saved and passed onto their needy shareholders!..

oh well.. maybe these displaced American workers can score a job at the new Harry Potter World in Orlando instead..

It probably hasn't occurred to you Sanity but one reason why I haven't contributed to 'Marxism" thread is that I feel Marxism stinks as much as capitalism. Marxism has failed dismally everywhere people claimed to be implementing it. Though it could be argued that no one ever succeeded in implementing Marxism faithfully .... but some one who believes that view can argue it, not someone like me who doesn't believe it.

So much for your inane assumption that Marxism is my "preferred alternative to capitalism". I'm glad to see that this post matches the average level of truth in your posts - little or none. I do admire your consistency - it must take years of practice to be so consistently wrong all the time.

At least the ones taking American jobs were legal aliens this time, and they are taking skilled jobs

Normally its illegal aliens taking jobs away from some of the poorest Americans

"Since June 24, at least 4,000 people have responded to the application, said Rodriguez. Some are serious responses and others are hate mail. "Only a few dozen have really followed through with the process," he said.

Most applicants quickly lose interest once the reality sinks in that these are back-breaking jobs in triple-digit temperatures that pay minimum wage, usually without benefits, according to the union. Its totally racist on your part and on the part of CNN to assume in essence that Hispanics are only capable of work, or only take work, befitting animals

huh??? This was a campaign by the United Farm Workers union, challenging Americans to take their labor-intensive, low-paying farm jobs. Since Americans dont want to do that work, who do you suggest does it to put food on your table?

these are the jobs you are so concerned about being taken from poor Americans.. the truth is Americans dont want the low paying jobs.. they would rather be on govt assistance..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7TGWaHaUeU Hey Americans, Come Take Our Jobs! Are they taking our jobs or are they keeping us from starving?

eta- I grew up on a farm.. its totally insulting that you refer to farm work as work only befitting animals..

Huh what, I was perfectly clear

The suggestion in your little propaganda article is clearly that only Hispanics can do that kind of work, and thats the only kind of work they take

RACISM

Where did i (or CNN) say that was the only work Hispanics can do? There are about 11 million immigrants and farm workers make up only about 1 million of them, quite obviously they (Hispanics) take other kinds of work, but nearly all the work is low paying.. the point was they arent taking jobs from Americans cuz Americans dont want the f'n jobs..

but i am done with you.. you are now the 2nd person i have on ignore..

PLEASE Brer Idjit... Dont throw me in the ignore patch!!!

ANYTHING but that...

From your CNN propaganda:

quote:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Facing growing anti-immigrant rhetoric, the United Farm Workers union is challenging Americans to take their labor-intensive, low-paying farm jobs.

As communities nationwide grapple with tenacious unemployment, migrant workers are often accused of stealing jobs from Americans. The union believes this accusation is without basis, and intends to demonstrate this with a newly-launched campaign called "Take Our Jobs."

"Farm workers do the work that most Americans are not willing to do," said union president Arturo Rodriguez in the announcement of the campaign...

So you say they only take what jobs?

Why do you say that. Are you claiming they are subhuman?

Actually you're incorrect. I was just out at a food packing plant during picking season. There was a long line of people applying for jobs there. I asked my buddy who they were and my buddy told me it was the usual welfare queens and kings. Welfare requires them to get a job every now and then, I don't know how frequently, in order to stay eligible. They work for a week, collect their check and go back on welfare. It's not that they won't take the jobs. It's that they're more comfortable on welfare.

I read from another source, a totally rabid pinko liberal aunt, so I won't pass the source along, that Disney made the employees they laid off take three months to train their replacements. They were able to extend salary and benefits for three months if they did. Now, that's insult to injury.

H1B visas are only supposed to be for where an employer can't find an American worker. They do that shit to programmers in the Silicon Valley as well. Now, to me, a union should be looking into that.

we havent seen that at all, since it is not a marxist country. However, we see many h1bs coming in replacing Americans in many corporations. This is not an isolated incident, this is the killing of america by rightwing goons and thugs.
