Have you seen it? Did you love it? Did you see the last episode # 5?

I am loving this story driven sci-fi. It unveils itself more like a spy mystery. It's got twists, drama and a plot that delivers what Helix season one promised but never delivered. I can't believe it is a fox network production.

Starring Matt Dillon, Terrence Howard, Juliet Lewis, Carla Gugino, Toby Jones and more. In the first few episodes it feels a little like a very well written version of The Prisoner but slowly takes shape with twists more along the lines of The Signal (only with a much better screenplay).

Anyway, I was completely hooked by the mystery of the first four episodes waiting for the truth to slowly reveal itself and then episode 5 landed a very big and well written twist. I can't wait to see what they do next now that the groundwork is laid out. I hope it remains a sci-fi plot driven show and doesn't reduce itself to just a drama. Time will tell and I will be watching.

If you like well written sci-fi, with the 'things aren't what they seem' qualities of The Lathe of Heaven, you may want to give this a peek.

Fox network, on demand. Hope you enjoy it if you haven't already.

I wanted to like it! The pilot felt tired, trite and 'been there' to me. I stuck with it and it only got a bit better. Usually I love sci- fi and mysteries so this should have been right up my alley.

True, the 'things aren't what they seem' aspects are a combination of some classic tried and true sci-fi plots... but I felt the screenplay made it rather vivid, fresh and the actors were awesome. Did you like Helix season one?

You can watch Wayward Pines online at Fox.

I liked Helix at first but wasn't interested in it by mid to end of the season.
I didn't like Wayward Pines at first but am hooked After this last episode 5.
Loved the twist and the concept.

I fell in love after ep #1.

I was a little disappointed they killed off Juliette Lewis' character so quickly.
And extremely surprised at last episodes revelations. Though, I'm not exactly buying into the whole story.
There are a few holes and unanswered questions that don't quite fit in. I'm going to assume it's not shoddy writing and it is just another twist into the mystery. Especially since they were introduced so early in the series.

I have my theories on everything.

I look forward to Thursday's now :)

My biggest question is if the town was built in the past, how is it so pristine so far in the future. Unless I missed something?

I took it as the town is in the future but the residents are from the past. So, it makes sense to me that everything would be newer.

Not that I'm necessarily buying all of that. I'm still not convinced they're in the future, even thought there is something odd about time there. I definitely don't think the residents were hand picked for the purpose of recolonizing, more like experimental/rehab.

I think the implication was that the children were hand picked. I don't know how they could have built the town later in the future with having so few of the adults knowing anything that's going on. Lots of questions and things that don't add up. I had a hard time staying focused on the first 3 episodes, so I might have missed a bunch of relevent info. I am looking forward to more episodes which I'll probably have to watch On Demand as I keep forgetting what day it originally airs.

I had high hopes for Helix. But alas, it never delivered what it promised and season 2 didn't appeal to me much at all.

Wayward Pines has been awesome do far. I can't wait to see what they do next.

I didn't mind them killing Juliette Lewis as much as Terrence Howard (Sheriff Pope). He seem more central to the story. However, according to IMDB.com (link), both Lewis and Howard are in 8 episodes. So we may see more of them, through flashbacks or something.

I would be curious about the holes or unanswered questions you mention. Episode 5 wrapped up most of the mysteries rather nicely for me.

I thought their series of motto's, their rules, like rule no. 3 "work hard" fits in with the pristine town and well manicured lawns. What tripped my flag was wondering where the food came from to feed every one? But then I recalled the enormous warehousing section. That was a HUGE subterranean looking bunker where the cars were. And they must have even more hidden support facilities that apparently has frozen people they wake up as needed . . . well, stashing some food or hydro gardens wouldn't be a problem. Being that the scientist planned that whole city as the key to the survival of the race means he must have had government support and all resources he could dream of.

I can't wait to see what happens next. I suspect there is more to the story behind the support systems for the town. And I think the rules have something to do with keeping core human values intact to avoid mutation like the outsiders. That is probably why a "reckoning" is acceptable procedure and there is an endless supply of frozen people to replace anyone that bucks the system and gets killed off. The procedures, their system, is obviously more important than the participants.

I really can't wait to see what happens next.

I binge-watched all 5 episodes into the wee small hours this morning.
I also first thought this was a modern day recreation of "The Prisoner," but then some questions crept in:

If this town exists 2,00 years in the future:

How are the cars maintained in pristine condition?
How are the homes maintained in pristine condition?
How are roads, utilities, and general infrastructure maintained in pristine condition?
Where does new clothing come from? Roofing shingles? (Sure does rain a lot.) New sewer pipes and electrical cable and water pipes?
Who made the mail boxes? Replacement tires (and virtually any mechanical parts) for the cars?
How about food? Who grows it? Where?
Meat? Fish? Poultry? Who provides the farms for those?
I see no steel mills, no iron works, no petroleum refineries, no dairy or livestock farms, and no place generating electricity for the town - or for that ominous fence.

Looking forward to tonight's episode.

I hope you enjoyed your binge.

The old cars in the bunker had flat tires, dead batteries and covered in dust. There is evidence of degradation for the stored vehicles.

As far as all the equipment, the town, food and infrastructure . . . that bugged me until I learned they were in an arch and had been awakened in the distant future. It was all planned long ago. They are in the year 4028, some 2,000 years from now. But they are in a recreation of 2014. We have already seen a part of the huge support complex with what looked a bit like an under ground bunker and many acres of space. In that bunker we see support personnel in the distance, a New York style car elevator for vertical parking to hold a lot of cars. They imply what we see is just the tip of a very large iceberg so to speak. Lots of storage spare parts etc. So unlike some sci-fi that asks you to swallow something magical to make it all work, this seemed very well written to me. Very tangible, feasible and possible.

I do not think the town is necessarily 2,000 years old. They mention the year 2014 as the source point of the people, at least the ones we have met so far. I think only the hibernating frozen people they wake up are that old. The town may be new. I think they are what they said they are. They are "the first generation" of something that was a long time in the making. Kate has lived there 12 years so maybe it started shortly before they woke her up? I suspect the town is actually 14 years old but who knows. Next episode has even more answers.

I can't wait for the next episode: THURSDAY, JUNE 25, ON FOX

Fox says:

Hope Davis (“Allegiance”) Guest Stars

Ethan gets a tour of the facility and personnel that manage the day-to-day operations of Wayward Pines and learns more about the history and how the residents ended up in the eerie town. Meanwhile, at the realty office, Theresa finds a map of an unusual plot of land she wants to investigate and Kate and Harold are planning a covert operation in all-new “Choices” episode of WAYWARD PINES airing Thursday, June 25 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (PIN-106) (TV-14; L,V) CC-HDTV 720p-Dolby Digital 5.1

ETA: An interview with Chad Hodge says:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: The truth about the town is pretty much the same as in the books. Did you ever consider changing the twist at all?

CHAD HODGE: No, never considered changing the twist. Never ever. The truth of what Wayward Pines is, which is what Blake Crouch came up with in his books, that idea is one of the main reasons I wanted to do this show. I thought it was so brilliant and one of those twists that you can go back and literally every plot hole you think you’ve found is plugged.

I love it especially after the reveal. It's a fun show.

The show that is super hot for me is Penny Dreadful. sex, BDSM, horror, Victorian times, gorgeous sets, great acting, Eva Green and Josh Hartnett, mmmm.

Oh, and hot guy on guy action besides guy on women.

Kill Joys starts tonight and True Detective starts on the 21st.. The saboteurs (uk starts friday?) Deutschland 83 airs on Sundance TV soon i think

I'm watching Defiance, and Pilar (Linda Hamilton) had a line that had me giggling:

Virtual debate club. I hate to be kept in the dark as a viewer.
Then I looked it up, watched a few more episodes and now I would like to explain to this
travesty of a human being in how many ways he is not worthy of the air that he breathes.

I was referring to the original topic. Well it's based on previously written material so you can take a sneak peek of where it is all going. My rant was directed at the only character in the show with a PhD.
Hope this clarifies it - please feel free to kick me if I'm being enigmatic. Just overreaching while trying not to be Captain Obvious :-) In this case I also tried to avoid spoilers, though.

Aha! Gotcha :)
I don't want to research it as I don't want to spoil the show! Thanks for not sharing any spoilers.
