What is the purpose of a butt plug for a sub/slave? Is it just a sign of subs submission to accept this? Or is there more to it ?

We use one before we have anal, to make anal easier, and so I like anal.
So for me they are way more about pleasure than submissiveness. I suppose some use them as a reminder of their submission or what have you- but I think they could be used either way...

The reasons vary, you would have to ask the one who wants the sub to wear it.

I enjoy the sensation of having a butt plug in and I enjoy just about anything anal, I even enjoy figging so having a plug in,in itself isn't about submission for me. I've used them on my own without being told to. He has me put a plug in at times we're going out for dinner, shopping, the movies, wherever because he knows it'll get me worked up and horny and have me ready to jump out of my skin. To him it's the thrill of teasing me, keeping me on the edge, watching me struggle to keep my cool, carry on a normal conversation with others, act like nothing is going on while every inch of my body wants to scream "Fuck me now" and knowing I can't do a god damn thing about it.

"Accepting" a buttplug isn't a "sign of submission." It's a sex toy. They're fun. For all kinds of reasons. Wearing one doesn't make you a submissive, and NOT wearing one doesn't mean you're NOT a submissive.

All of the answers above are correct because the question is sort of asking what's the purpose of a slinky.

The purpose is whatever you want it for.

A butt plug has been used on me to remind me during the day that I'm owned, and as a reward when it is finally removed, after a long day at work.

But that's just us.
