Very powerful words.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RdGq0PK69E#t=73

The one line that caught me was "the 300,000 confederate soldiers who died in the civil war were murdered by slavery just as surly as the millions who were worked to death on the plantations."

Boom!

They didnt free anyone from slavery, and slavery is very legal in the US and flourishing, they instead enslaved the whole damn country! How about that atrocity?

Debt bondage (also known as debt slavery or bonded labor) is a person's pledge of their labor or services as security for the repayment for a debt or other obligation. The services required to repay the debt may be undefined, and the services' duration may be undefine

Total Federal Government Debt in 2015. At the end of FY 2015 the gross US federal government debt is estimated to be $18.628 trillion, according to the FY16 Federal Budget.

Ok all together now.........

I pledge allegiance to the flag.....

Oh yeh and you didnt even have to pledge it! They pledged it and continue to pledge it FOR YOU! LOL

very powerful reality

That was an interesting video. When I was a kid, I think I was probably more heavily influenced by the "Lost Cause" version of the Civil War. A lot of the Confederate imagery at that time was presented in more of a quaint, innocuous, and nostalgic manner, which may have caused many people to dissociate it from the actual causes and motivations leading up to the formation of the Confederacy and the Civil War. I recall an episode of "The Beverly Hillbillies" where Granny somehow believed that the Confederates won the Civil War. There was also a Bugs Bunny cartoon where Yosemite Sam was a Confederate officer and corners a bunch of "Yankees" in a baseball dugout.

I think a lot of us were given a somewhat whitewashed, romanticized version of the Civil War which we eventually had to come to terms with. I think the man in the video is correct in that we need to look at what actually happened with a clearer and more objective viewpoint, realizing that it was not some kind of "noble rebellion," but an armed insurrection to preserve and expand the institution of slavery. Most people seem to be okay with the idea of ditching the Confederate flag, but there are still a few stubborn holdouts.

I don't think the Confederate flag should be banned outright, but public perceptions aren't the same as they once were. It's not something that can be just explained away as easily, not like it used to be.
