Since I happen to be on the site to contribute to a thread regarding another long term member, I figured I'd stop by and lend what I can.
The first thing I have to tell you is that my suggestion would be you need to refine your search parameters a bit. You found one thread on this topic from seven years ago. Instead, I used my name as the author and the name of one particular city (because I knew I had contributed on this topic before) and came up with seven threads. Not how many more I could have found by the specific cities that I've been to over the years. Just one. Also, I'd suggest Fet would be the better resource tool for this. You can type any particular city into their search box and get hundreds of listings in matter of minutes.
With that said, an active community doesn't necessarily mean that's the community that would be the best idea to relocate to for the idea of participation. It took me less than ten seconds to come up with five cities that have very active scenes that I would never suggest people attend. I'm not talking about the petty squabbling that almost all communities seem to go through. I mean things like murder, rampant consent violations, embezzlement, outings, assaults, clubs closing due to frequent police visits, and a number of other things. If stuff in these categories are happening repeatedly over a five year period, maybe those locations aren't a great idea.
It's a logical thing with your circumstances to say that kink is your interest, so you want to relocate where your interest can be explored. At the same time, I would suggest to you that looking at surrounding circumstances is a good idea. Just like when you are looking to relocate when kink isn't the main focus, you'd look at stuff like an area's crime rate, real estate, cost of living, taxes, school districts (if there were little people in your life), culture, and what the area has (or doesn't have) that are benefits or liabilities. It's kind of the same thing in the kink community, itself.
