South Carolina Senate Casts First Vote to Remove Confederate Flag

Will the House do the right thing too?

So the Republicans took down that flag in 1865 and now again in 2015. Nice. Especially since it was a Democrat Governor (Fritz Hollings) that put it up. Republicans must really dislike the democrat's flags.

I think it is the right thing to do. They don't deserve that flag. It should be taken down and sent to fly over two graves for unknown Confederate soldiers located and still maintained at the end of Remington Drive, Lascassas, TN. Perhaps the pole and all should be removed and setup there over those two fallen Sons of the Confederacy.

Just an FYI... the KKK never did much with the confederate battle flag until people started trying to ban it.

The flag of the KKK is a bit different. White flag with a read circle containing the equal armed cross with a flame in the middle.

Hard to find an online image of it since the "Ban the Confederate Jack" movement has KKK rallying in protest and filling up the search engines.

Ok, one version of the KKK flag but from the European variant.
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-28103319

You an see the red roundel with the KKK emblem in it. Back when the KKK marched in public, a white flag with that red symbol was the flag they flew. "Going through blood and fire to keep the purity of race." or some other drivel was the interpretation.

Before someone from outside the south decided the Confederate Battle Flag had something to do with race relations in the 1980s; the subject never came up.

If you flew a Confederate Jack it had one of three meanings.
> Your football team was Ole Miss.
> It was memorial day and you honored the soldiers who served.
> Like John Denver; you were "proud to be a country boy"

Come up to anyone and tell them they don't know what the symbols of their culture mean' and you sure don't get a good reaction. And you see that with all the ban the flag movements.

If Julius Caesar was in the KKK, he could have a point. If the great pyramid was a KKK Lodge, he could have another point. If brains were dynamite etc...........

I presume they are talking about

South Carolina Sovereignty/Secession Flag with the decrescent moon and the palmetto in the left corner.

or one of the other Confederate Naitonal Flags.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flags_of_the_Confederate_States_of_America

The battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia isn't the confederate flag.

Or it could be satire. Hold that last thought.
