Surely there are reasons for the number being so low. Maybe it's our definition of 'moderate'?

A look at the history of Western support for the anti-Assad 'moderates' in Syria explains why Syrians are not too enthusiastic. That history is one of broken promises, failure to support, and betrayal. Consequently groups such as the Free Syrian Army have been sidelined, and on occasion over run by salafi/jihadi groups. OTOH, salafi/jihadi groups such as the Nusra Front and IS, which are financed and armed by regional forces such as Saudi Arabia Turkey and Qatar, are far better financed, trained, armed and equipped. So most Syrians seeking Assad's overthrow gravitate towards the salafi/jihadi groups for obvious practical reasons, despite their misgivings about salafi/jihadi ideologies. All US allies ......

Are these 60 going to be cadre for the group to train? Remember, you have to train cadre BEFORE you can expand to train large amounts of troops. It is essentially a pyramid scheme. Or it could be that no one is really that interested.

Black Ops don't come cheap; unfortunately they have to place the cost 'here' and 'there' on the budget and hope no one questions it. Now it looks like the public is looking in an area the US Military really didn't want them looking. Which makes the politicians look like asses for discovering it; since they have to walk-back things. Unfortunately, the public, whom doesn't understand such things, demands a full accounting. Which the politicians can not do, because its classified. Now they can't say its classified, because then the question becomes "How do you know of this, without security clearances?". Which places them in even...MORE....trouble with the law. I'm not saying that this is the case here....
