fake lineage and socialist tendencies aside for a moment, mj, could you elaborate for a bit on the corporate corruption you mentioned in your very first post?

Here are her proposals:

Hold financial institutions and individuals accountable for cheating customers
Close the auto loan loophole and extend CFPB oversight to auto dealers
Stop financial fraud recidivism by preventing any institution from entering into a non-prosecution agreement or deferred prosecution agreement if they are already operating under such an agreement
Deter future financial fraud by imposing a mandatory minimum monetary penalty at least equal to the profits generated by the illegal conduct and strengthening judicial review of deferred prosecution and non-prosecution agreements
Strengthen enforcement by requiring the Fed's Board of Governors to vote on all major supervisory and regulatory matters, and giving each Governor his or her own staff
Stop financial institutions from passing risk on to taxpayers
Cap the size of financial institutions as originally proposed by Senators Brown and Kaufman
Reinstate the barrier between commercial banking and investment banking as proposed in the 21th Century Glass-Steagall Act
Improve market discipline by restricting the Fed's emergency lending authority
Change tax policies that encourage excessive risk-taking and financial instability
Close the bonus loophole that allows financial institutions to write off billions in executive bonuses each year
Limit highly leveraged financial institutions from fully deducting their interest payments
Institute a targeted financial transactions tax
Create simple, structural rules for regulating the shadow banking sector

She is working on Glass-Steagall now.

okay, but, im not sure this an actual answer to my question. what are corporations presently doing, that is "corrupt" such that she is resonating so strongly with you in that regard? some of the answer to that might actually be hidden in what you've written above, but im looking and hoping for something more direct and specific---some intimate and actual connection between the corruption and her positions/propositions.

In this context, she is focusing on the banking (commericaial and investment), and insurance industry. During the lead-up to the financial crisis, banks were fraudulently misrepresenting securitized mortgages. They were also merging, and doubling as insurance companies, and bypassing regulations on how much of their assets they can invest in "risky investments", and creating themselves as "too big to fail". Phil Gramm, was the lead sponsor of Gramm-Leach-Billey, which he tried to pass off as a consumer privacy and safeguard act. It gutted Glass-Steagall, which opened the door for this behavior.

Incidentally, Phil Gramm's wife (one incredibly corrupt bitch, to put it nicely) , was appointed by Reagan to sit on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Enron lobbied her to exempt it from any of its regulations. After that was done, she resigned and took a seat on Enron's board. (We know how that turned out)

She wants to: (among other things)

1) Put a stop to Commercial Banks, doubling as Investment Banks and Insurance Companies ("Too Big To Fail")
2) Stop Federal Tax dollars going to cover banking losses (aka bailouts)
3) Cap the size of financial institutions
4) De-incentivize highly leveraged banks, by limiting their interest deductions
5) Regulate the "shadow banks" (Organizations which operate like banks, but are not chartered as such)

This is a Senator who FULLY understands the causes of the financial crisis and has the EXACT right ideas to prevent it from happening again.

I could point out dozens of lies from every single Republican candidate (except maybe Trump) for President. Most of them would be far more serious than fraudulently checking a "Native American" box.

please...

I could pick Scott Walker for example:

"As President, Barack Obama has not gone to the Texas-Mexico border." - Lie
"I unsealed my records at Marquette University" - Lie
"The next state budget will begin with a surplus of over half a billion dollars -- $535 million to be exact." - Lie. They are in a huge deficit
"Mary Burke "wasted 12.5 million dollars on a vacant lot" in a move that "could cost taxpayers nearly $25 million." -Lie
A poll taken "a few months ago" found "70 percent approval or higher" for the Act 10 collective bargaining law. - Lie. The poll was 2 years old, and not even relevant

Hmmm... Let's see... If I lived in Wisconsin, and Elizabeth Warren was running against Scott Walker for Governor of Wisconsin. WHo would I vote for? The candidate who lied about how people felt about his failed policies, and lied about the budget? OR. The woman who wants to restore Glass-Stegall, is opposing TPP, and lied about being a Native American.

I'll take the Faux Cherokee ANY day.

ive only got a minute right now so I don't have time to address each of those, but as a starter (and I suspect the others will pretty much be similar), Obama giving a speech in el paso is not in spirit, even close to "visiting the border." yes technically el paso is on the border, but when politicians, media and even common citizens say "visit the border" they are talking about actually going to the places where the illegal crossings are happening and being out with the border patrol/talking with people in roughly unsecured areas. el paso has a formal/legal crossing station.

if you can show evidence of that Obama has indeed visited the border in the terms just mentioned, then perhaps scott walker has misrepresented him but otherwise, the internet has plenty of evidence of obama being invited to "visit the border" there and him not doing so. I trust scott walker is using the term colloquially, just like almost all the rest of us would.

"perhaps scott walker has misrepresented him"[/b]. LOL - Sounds like Ari Fleischer doublespeak.

Sigh...

Notice the sign saying "MEXICO" in the picture of Obama NOT giving a speech.

bounty44 -> RE: Elizabeth Warren Rocks (7/12/2015 12:46:43 PM)

I don't do doublespeak. i do however understand words in context and their right usage.

do you suppose I think Obama just helicoptered into the speech site, gave his speech, did absolutely nothing else, and then helicoptered out?

you ignored all the other context I gave so i'll say it again. in the way that people understand "visiting the border", Obama did not "visit the border," he went to a city on the border to give a speech. a photo of him "NOT" giving a speech at an official border crossing, is still not Obama visiting the border. if he went out into the rural areas where people are crossing illegally, travelled with the border patrol, and spoke with people who own land alongside the border, then he "visited the border." otherwise, you want to give him the title without his actually doing the work to earn it.

whats the more likely scenario, scott walker lying about something so disprovable, or scott walker meaning "visit the border" in the way I described it above? my money's on the latter.

bounty44 -> RE: Elizabeth Warren Rocks (7/12/2015 1:10:28 PM)

the next one in line:

http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin/statements/2015/mar/12/scott-walker/where-are-scott-walkers-student-records/

this one is just as bad. apparently, to people out to think poorly of scott walker, "unsealed my records" means "and I posted them online somewhere where everyone and their mother can see them" as opposed to simply making them available to whoever requests them through the proper administrative channels at the school.

quote:

When we contacted the governor’s office for this fact check, spokeswoman Laurel Patrick forwarded us a copy of that letter.

When we asked if that meant there had been no unsealing of documents, she replied by saying:

"This effectively unseals his records, which is what he said. It gives Marquette University authorization to provide information about his record."

his statement about "unsealing records" appears to have occurred in early 2015, yet for some reason, politifact seems compelled to provide information prior to that date as evidence that he didn't subsequently do what he indeed said he did.

maybe i'll do one more of these, but its pretty much as I suspected so far. they are not lies but rather political infighting.

bounty44 -> RE: Elizabeth Warren Rocks (7/12/2015 2:32:03 PM)

http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin/statements/2014/apr/06/scott-walker/scott-walker-says-recent-wisconsin-poll-shows-70-a/

okay this is close to crossing over into the absurd. walker was speaking off the top of his head and spoke broadly/generally, and didn't remember the exact date of the poll he was referencing in his mind. at worst he is guilty of a lack of a perfect memory and if you want to genuinely nail him, maybe some exaggeration.

I would not call this a lie either as opposed to it being someone just not having his facts completely straight on the spur of the moment.

is it possible all the candidates haven't actually committed dozens of public lies and you were just trying to make a point in defense of Elizabeth warren?

It's possible that I cannot document dozens for each candidate, but I can certainly document at least one, which is far more significant than fraudulently checking a box on a form. These are all lies. Most of them are insignificant (much less so than someone checking Native American on a form, but insignificant all the same).

Your ridiculous rationalization of them doesn't make them less of a lie. In this case, not only was the poll 2 years old, it didn't even directly address his disastrous Act 10. It was just a lie, that he though no one would check. Not political infighting. Just a lie.

Actually the state is a commonwealth. One of four in the nation. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is more advanced than most of the other states in the nation right now. Its schooling is on par with the most advanced nations around the world. That we've had Mass Health longer than you had the ACA. Our crime rate is the same as New Hampshire's, but with seven times the population (and better firearm laws)! Our roadways are kept in good condition, and businesses do very well inside the Route 495 area. The commonwealth was one of the first states to bounce back after the recent economic recession.

Yeah, we pay alittle bit more in taxes. Yet, we reap much more in benefits doing so. Maybe you should try living here, before you rant your ignorant ass about it!

Oh yeah, he would fail. Which is the reason why he shows up on FOX 'news'.....

I have no problem with people looking into Hillary's profit sharing/rich pay fair stuff. Just as long as those same people do the same stuff towards all the Republican/Tea Party candidates as well. Have they done that bounty?

Of course not.....

What would conservative media agencies have to gain by being truthful, honest, and heaps of integrity across the political spectrum? Their audience is often to dimwitted to know they are manipulated and lied on a daily basis. After two decades, they even have been conditioned with many concepts in psychology (look up NLP) to accept things without question. Much of it is unethical, unprofessional, and immoral; but its 'OK' because its the conservative media. Its only 'wrong' if anyone else does the same thing.

Your part of that audience....
