The concept of electric cars is touted as a solution to greenhouse gases and pollution. I've maintained for quite a while that the inefficency of converstion of energy types (heat to mechanical to electrical and back to mechanical) makes electric vehicles actually more polluting but the pollution isn't on your local road.
A more thorough study than my own power factor and turbine efficiency calculations has been published.

The term that people used to use was "well to wheel" I don't know if it is still in use. But the concept of taking the complete picture into account certainly seems a sound one.

Another issue is the increase in used car batteries. I guess just bury them like we currently are doing?

Systems analysis is looking at a whole process instead of just looking at the one part right in front of you.
In general, placing the energy source as close to where you need the energy works more efficiently.
