KenDckey -> internment camps for ‘radicalized’ Americans (7/20/2015 9:32:54 AM)

Ret. General Wesley Clark proposes bringing back internment camps for ‘radicalized’ Americans - Remember he ran for Pres as a Dem which makes this even more confusing. Please Listen to the interview.

It has it meritts but who can be considered radicalized? Anyone who disagrees with Obama, Anyone who disagrees with a law, anyone and everyone. My 2 cents.

OMFG

Sorry, I know that doesn't contribute anything to this thread. That's just all my exploding brain can eek out at the moment.

It should make your head explode WaywardSoul. Wrong is wrong - Period

I am seriously having trouble wrapping my head around the idea that anyone, anyone, thinks this is a good idea.

It is the natural progression from Joe's statement that conservatives and libertarians need to let the government do their thinking for them.

To quote one of my favorite shows, EVER:

"Wrong-thinking will be punished. Right-thinking will be just as easily rewarded."

This is the slippery slope I have been speaking about for 30-40 years when people first started floating the idea of "hate crimes". You can't punish people for how they think.

We're getting the same sorts of noises by our conservative government over here and they're not defining 'extremist' either.

Gawd. Really, haven't we all learned at least one thing from these boards: that one person's 'extreme' is another person's 'ordinary'?

I agree, but I can think of a few people I'd like to add LOL

Unless I am mistaken we already have criminal penalties for radicalized Americans no internment camps needed past a penitentiary ... myself I wish they were stronger.

Some people consider anyone who doesn't let the government think for them is a radical.

Some think that anyone who wants smaller government is a radical.
Some think that anyone who believes that bigger government is the answer is a radical.
Some think that anyone who wants to let illegals vote is a radical.
Some think that anyone who wants to enforce immigration laws is radicalized.
Some think that anyone who thinks they have a right to own firearms is a radical.
Some think that anyone who wants background checks for firearms is a radical.

We need to criminalize behavior, not thought.

Pretty close anyway. That left a few 5&6 yr olds to run the country LOL

Bama if a local Bosnian baker is not making a cake for a gay wedding but is sending money to ISIS then he is radicalized and needs to be interned in prison... and guess what...that is what happened here in St. Louis... or at least they are charged anyway.

No, I think my niece's pet hamster, Tizzy, might still be able to wriggle away free. Though I wouldn't count on it.

What does making cakes for gays have to do with this.
He is in prison, he was not sent there for his views, but for his actions.

kdsub -> RE: internment camps for ‘radicalized’ Americans (7/20/2015 3:15:37 PM)

I was agreeing with you bama... that is why I did not understand why you tried to lecture me... We have laws that if broken will punish those that are radicalized and they will be interned we need nothing more.

Butch

KenDckey -> RE: internment camps for ‘radicalized’ Americans (7/20/2015 3:21:02 PM)

Prisons are for convicted/pending train criminals/suspects

Internment camps are based upon other things and don't require inprisonment.

Sorry it sounded like I was lecturing you, that was not my intent.
I agree with you that if we catch anyone helping these animals we need to throw the book at them.
However at the same time Clark's suggestion sounds a lot like those FEMA camps leftists say conservatives believe is coming. All conservatives are tinfoil nut cases because some of them think something is possible, then Clark promotes that very thing?
