First, I did not find a forum for tech type questions or I would be posting there, , therefore sorry
if there is one and I missed it.

now, here is my question, If I want to upload videos I bought from DVD's to a torrent program
so i can then same them on my external 2T hard drive, how would one go about do that as
I would not be downloading from some utorrent web page but had paid for the DVD and simply
want to be sure to back them all up on computer device I hope that is legal.

If any of you know how to do this please let me know
thanks
Tiger

If all you want to do is make an exact copy for personal use, there are several free and reliable programs for doing so. I always had the best luck with DVDShrink. One note of caution: someone has put a copy of DVDShrink out on the Innerwebs that is laced with a trojan. Scan anything you download before installing, please.

You don't want to use a Torrent for a small home LAN. It could work if you set up a torrent server; but why go to that trouble if you aren't distributing to many computers at once. (What torrents were designed for). And, most ISP companies have "NO SERVER OPERATION TO THE INTERNET" as part of their TOS.

You didn't mention if your 2T HDD was set up as a NAS (Network accessible storage) or connected to a particular computer. How you set up sharing is a bit different for NAS or sharing a drive partition on a particular computer.

All you need to do is copy your rendered DVD copy to your drive then authorize it to be shared on your home network. Then you can access the drive from any computer on the network to play the content.
