Estring -> Blocked By Strangers (7/16/2006 6:20:59 PM)

I recently wanted to give some encouragement to someone who, in their profile, stated that they were having problems. I  sent the message, and was informed that this person had blocked me from messaging them. Lol. I never have had any contact with this person before. Why would I be blocked? Is it my picture. Lol. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Is it possible to block everyone? If so, that's what it would likely be, I think.

michaelGA2 -> RE: Blocked By Strangers (7/16/2006 6:30:11 PM)

well, i had a Mistress i had no contact with in a very long time send me an insulting message (Message was: you are an idiot). when i went to ask Her what i did to bring Her to this conclusion, i was blocked so my message was not received by Her. You'll notice alot of "hit and run" emails on this site as some people love to insult but does not want to hear any rebutals.

i hope the Mistress that sent me that message reads this and clarifies Her message.

I didn't notice, but is there a feature here where someone can just put a blanket block on their account?  I wouldn't take it personally.

DevilHimself -> RE: Blocked By Strangers (7/16/2006 6:40:07 PM)

There are those that complain about rude messages they receive from others but when they receive a compliment, can't thank the sender for it. Two-faced?

sharainks -> RE: Blocked By Strangers (7/16/2006 6:40:47 PM)

People block for all kinds of reasons.  I had exchanged about 3 e-mails with someone when he told me it was time for me to come to him.  My reponse was something like its too soon and I preferred a halfway thing given the distance.  He responded that I was abusive and therefore he was blocking me.

In short, it takes all kinds.

Estring, this has gotta be some sorta mistake, I can't imagine anyone purposely blocking you, and I know for sure it's not your pic, your adorable in a manly kinda way of course.  I accidentally blocked Loki once, maybe it was an accident.

Awe ... I know it wasnt your Pic.  [:)]

Possibly its just their mail settings.

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: Blocked By Strangers (7/16/2006 9:16:33 PM)

This hasn't happened to Me, but I have blocked people I don't know from contacting Me.  There have been a few local subs who are bad news who have pulled a number on some of the local Dommes.  When more than one Domme friend tells Me the same thing happened to Her, I have been known to block the sub in question.

One confronted Me at a real-time event and asked Me why I had him blocked when I didn't even know him.  I told him to think about some things he had done to Dommes recently.

If you haven't done anything to them or one of their friends, I don't know what the reason would be.  Maybe there is a way to block e-mail universally, but I have not come across it.

That is hilarious!  Guess just wants to admire you from afar.  Maybe he's afraid of making a real-time connection.

When the upgrade with increased choices happened, I somehow ended up having someone I considered a friend blocked from contacting me.  I emailed her, she emailed back, found self blocked, thought that she did something wrong or I'd lost my mind, but it was merely a technical issue resolved once I knew about it from a 3rd friend, lol.  M

sub4hire -> RE: Blocked By Strangers (7/17/2006 8:13:39 AM)

If you look at the new profile choices on the other side.  I look, I just don't change anything myself.  I like the fact if someone wants to know something they have to ask.  But then you know me by now.

In any event, you can choose to have no mail from this sort of group and that group.  Hence blocking profiles.  Say you are here not looking....well you could tell the truth about it and actually block male doms or fem doms and truly not be looking.  I imagine that mst also fall through to the mail.
I'm sure she didn't block you on an individual basis...although her settings did block you.

At least that is my conclusion by reading the other side.

firstsub -> RE: Blocked By Strangers (7/17/2006 11:13:42 AM)

don't stress the small stuff

Estring -> RE: Blocked By Strangers (7/17/2006 4:31:43 PM)

She stated how disillusioned she was with the people she had met here, so I imagine she has blocked everyone, or more likely males.

Since the Block feature is a toggle (on/off per individual profile), there is no 'gender based Block'... only message filtering to the Bulk Mail folder by gender, age, etc. In that respect the person could not have blocked you by gender as was suggested in a subsequent reply.

Perhaps it was an ''Unplanned Block'' and was purely accidental or unintentional on the members part?

With the right hand side of the "View Full Profile" button bordering the left hand side of the "Block User" button, I would submit that the "Unplanned Block" potential is enormous.

Further, that most right handed mouse users routinely click the rightmost side of the View Full Profile button... doubling the chances of a "Premature Inadvertent Click" before getting their cursor positioned on the right side of the View Full Profile button.

It could very well be an issue of member technique, temperment, awareness and disciplne versus a simple fuck you stance "Planned Block"?

Advocating user awareness and prevention of "Unplanned Blocks" may help to lessen their occurances. Free clinics and lots of printed brochures, maybe a few tv commercials will help get the word out.

But in the same token, increasing the physical space between those two particular interface buttons on the collarme site design would surely help alleviate "Unplanned Blocks" better than any other prevention method (idiot proofing?).

Aha... there is yet another alternative to changing the sites interface layout... and that would be to incorporate a click map in the webpage code, and concentrating the clickable area of the Block button to it's rightmost side only... virtually making the clickable distance between the two buttons larger... a buffer if you will between the two totally opposite in function buttons.

One button will view your profile... the other sends you to the twilight zone... why not seperate the two physically or virtually???

Very simple, lol
