It depends on the level of trust. Through your conversations and "getting to know each other" phase you should be able to get a fair bearing on whether this person is an out-n-out fake. That is not to say there are no good actors out there, but this weeds out 60% of the rotten eggs. Post that, if you are still not sure, you could simply ask that person to relocate, and pay him or her back after (s)he shows up at your door. Cash-on-delivery has its strengths :)

Talking about major scammers on here, just read a profile with the username of ella1q, saying she has 7.5 million dollars and is willing to go 50/50. Would you believe it, and you wonder why the system did not pick it out with the money in her profile that should have been picked up by the computer system.

Just makes me wonder.

I've found it's simpler and only a little more expensive just to hire someone to kidnap them and bring them to you.

I doubt it's a scam, to be honest. As soon as my Nigerian fiancée gets here (I've been waiting 14 months), I'll be able to prove it to you.

You weren't the guy on previews for Dr. Phil were you ? Sent $135,000 to a 'woman' in Africa, sight unseen.

I've thought of that too, but my hirelings always chicken out at the last minute.

Oh, no! That's not me. I've seen lots of photos of her (She's a famous fashion model, mostly in Europe).

She's kind and caring and devoted to me and can provide for herself and ... Oh, shit! I wonder why she needed money from me, when she's an international model.

I've got a bad feeling about this ...

Ive actually talked to people like that. There was this guy a couple years ago who after talking on the phone for a day he told me I had to decide then if I liked him.... I said "ok bye" and over the next month sent me emails(unresponded) about this famous ballet dancer who loved him.... a year later I got the "so all these women are fake im willing to talk to you again" message like none of the other stuff happened...

The world isn't full of scammers, it's full of idiots.

Thank you all for your input. I just wondered how folks felt about the subject. So thanks again
