The Other 15 Hours

Status: offline 		I know when referring to life outside of the bedroom, it's 23 hours, but I'm assuming y'all get a decent amount of sleep (unlike myself).

What activity (or activities) do you/would you enjoy most with a partner outside of the bedroom and outside of the sex?

I'm a romantic, so to answer fairly I'm adding a restriction to my own response by also limiting myself to things outside of romance. (You don't have to.)

In my circumstance, I've always gravitated to some generic mutual activity - visiting a museum, discussing a book, you get the idea. If I were to pick only one activity, I'd have to say taking a walk. I like the outdoors but never get out because of my work and other responsibilities. Just getting outside and wandering some days seems like a capital idea, and having someone to wander and talk with would be even nicer.

How about you? (resisting urge to post a clip from Fisher King...)

Catching the latest movies on the big screen at local IMAX or RPX theaters
Dining out . . . our most frequent activity.

I would have mentioned going for a drive through the scenic Florida country side or along the coast roads . . . but that includes sex. Well, her sex . . . I drive, she squirts all over the passenger while I play with her. No bench seat so she can't really blow me with the shifter in the way. We are working on that though. Going to get another Caddy soon.

Status: offline 		The first thing that comes to mind is a nice evening at the opera, philharmonie or a musical. Simply enjoying her company and the play.

Due to the romance/sex restriction I had to drop "waking up besides her" from the list.

Status: offline 		He and I have been long-distance for so long that I think my favorite thing to do with him will be just being in the same room with him without watching the clock about it. I'll get back to you in a few months when I'm no longer so easily entertained. LOL

Now that's something I flatly refuse to do. He insists I wear my seat belt, he still reminds the kids to wear theirs. And no use of cell phone while driving
Yet no seat belt and being totally distracted and not focusing on the road? Sorry. I'd be pissed if I got hit by some guy too busy getting blown to drive. I'd be more pissed if it were him risking my life like this.

Status: offline 		Ummm pretty much all of our time together is spent eating sleeping or fucking, in reverse order... all of our hobbies are separate. He spends his free time going to see explosiony action movies with friends and doing volunteer work. I read and do math and puzzles while running around in circles. Ive gone to the dog park with him and the husky max but max got kicked out of the dig park because he likes to hump boy pit bulls.... he has very specific tastes. But none of our intellectual interests coincide... he likes geology and I find it as dull as... rocks. And politics which I consider an exercise in arguing. My recent attempts to start teaching him precalculus reminded me that it's best to keep your bed sport separate from your hobbies.

Status: offline 		Can you define "decent sleep", I forget what that is.

What we do for enjoyment outside the bedroom, take the monster mutts out for their 3 mile walk every day. Walks on the beach when we're at his folk's beach house, work around the yard/house, occasionally go to the movies, sit outside by the fire pit at night on nights it's not too hot sometimes just us, sometimes with friends, go skinny dipping in the neighbor's pool, sit by the fireplace in the house when it's cold out and just talk about anything or nothing at all.

Go to natural habitat zoos, science centers, art festivals, little coffee shops, hiking, work out together, we eat out a few times a week and enjoy trying restaurants we haven't been too before. Every week or two we meet up with another couple who are very close friends of ours for dinner or just hang out at their house or our house, get a pizza or have a cook out.

He's a brewer, he and his business partner are opening a brewery/tap room and he enjoys checking out other microbreweries. Not really my thing but I've come to have a bit of an interest in it. Most of the people we've met are quite interesting.

We don't miss the NC Renaissance Fair that's held every Oct/Nov, one of my favorite places to go even though it's basically the same thing every year, I really enjoy spending a day there and we like going to the Highland Games.

Status: offline 		I used to go with Gary when he did karaoke. I had to stop. Karaoke is something he loves and enjoys, but in AZ it's 6 nights every week plus every other Sunday afternoon. I just couldn't take it anymore. So he does his karaoke. I relax and read a good book or watch the TV shows I record when he's home.

There are quite a few things, but here is just a glimpse of what I find to be "perfect":

My lady(/ies), my Puppy and I at the end of a day on our Adirondack chairs with our feet propped up, enjoying a smoke, a sunset, a beverage (whether it be "adult variety" or not) and each others' company.

Life doesn't get any better than that.

I include sleep time into BDSM/scene/247/play/whatever time because if things are going well, there's bondage involved.

This sounds super corny but: it depends on the person. I'm highly adaptable, and my core interests tend to shift depending on who I'm with.

That being said, I expect a great deal of our kink life to take place outside of the bedroom, and outside of sex, and to overlap with the mundane and normal. In fact, that's about the only thing that's consistent for me in between partners.

We walk together. Eat at our favorite restaurants. Try out new restaurants. Go to kink events. Go motorcycle riding. Ski together. Play video games. Play music (guitar/bass). Read the same news/actua/social sites, and then bitch together about the idiocy of the world. Sit on the front porch with a nice spirit and enjoy a cigar. Cuddle in bed while talking until 4am. Marathon watch favorite tv shows. Travel (mostly me going with on boring business trips to keep him company).

We love to take walks together, and try to do this at least once every weekend if the weather is good. We've both noticed we really *talk* when we're walking together.

We also love to lounge around and read a book in bed together, in fact, we take reading/walking vacations where those are our prime activities.

We're one of those couple who actually like each other and spend a lot of time together, but those two things are way at the top of the list.

I just like to go for a walk through the botanic gardens in Adelaide, just for a walk, drive through the hills and stop at a lookout and look at the city.....especially during the night when the lights are lit......go ten pin bowling, movies, or even just sitting there and relaxing together without talking

Status: offline 		Something we haven't done this year but did quite a bit in the past was trying new mini golf places. The one closest to us is built next to a swamp and is a haven for giant mosquitoes.

Try new restaurants, pick up sandwiches and picnic stuff and go up to the lake.

Pretty similar.

We like nature, birds and the countryside in particular.

Reading and discussing books, particularly history related.

Museums, usually history related, and visiting places abroad or in this country.

The simple things in life really.

Restaurants usually let me down in particular because generally they are missing the point of the essence of human interaction. So, prefer to eat at home.

Both big fans of visiting new places, and they could be anywhere: on the doorstep or the other side of the world.

I'm not what you would call a big film fan, although I do love a good film. There is so much rubbish that I don't think it's worth sifting through it all to find a gem, so whereas usually I follow my nose when it comes to films I'm happy to read film reviews before watching something.

And, I love work, I love my career line. Not what I would have had as a first choice, but once you're in you may as well give it a good go.

And, I sleep well. 7/8 hours a day on average. Possibly because I do a lot of exercise and I'm one of those people whose mind is constantly active so when it hits 10 at night I'm shattered and really don't want anyone bothering me!
