I think it is as good(?) as the 90's version but my son insists that it is even worse.

Never watched the 90s one.... I liked this better than the avengers ones and such....not all explosions and dance fighting, still not good by any means but suffices as what I look for in media generally, sufficient background noise while I do other things.

The 90s one was directed by Roger Corman with no budget.
But it had a better story line.
One of the things I disliked about it was that it ignored everything about the comics.

Not sure id notice, read the comics as a kid... then read rehashes, and rehashes and now other than specific flashes of frames dont remember....spiderman and generation x.... the antiheroes were more my thing. I should watch the old one, cheesy family movies are always fun.

The 90's version is hard to find, fox refused to release it and tried to keep copies off the market.
For starters Sue's father was a criminal.
I dislike the trend to change races, particularly of major characters.
I said the same thing when the new Battlestar Galatica changed the race of every major black character in the series.
So making Sue's father and brother black was a problem.
Doom did not get his "powers" at the same time and manor as the FF. (the early 2000's version screwed up the same way).
This had Richards and Doom as glory hounds leading to the exposure.
Doom had armor they made it his skin.
Ben Grimm was an ex football player/ex marine fighter pilot, they turned him into a lackey.
The only way you could like this movie is if you aren't at all familiar with the source material.

I dont mind "reimaginings" generally.... except the newest spidy movie actually pissed me off. They made that slut the star of the show.... of spidy couldnt do it without her, he's stupid she's really the brains.... in the comics she dumped him and ran of to be an "actress" in the newer version(early 2000s comics after they were dating) they straight up called her a porn star.... but no shes the one who saves the day. That bugged me because it changed the entire dynamic of the characters, she was his kryptonite and they made her the savior. This one where they just make him a black adoptive brother is purely political and doesn't really affect the story.

I object to race changes, in the upcoming Dr Strange movie they have a white woman playing the Ancient One (an oriental man). No reason for it.
And yes when they make Sue an adoptive member of a black family that changes the whole dynamic.

Watching the 1994 version now i like the romantic music choice during the scene where the comet arrives, the intensity, i thought they would kiss.

Thats right she was adopted.... i dont think i ever read the original origin story. The parts of f4 i read were all after they were established and it was just mentioned in flashbacks

She wasn't adopted, she and Johnny were brother and sister.
That is why Johnny was with them when the 4 of them were changed.
He was a punk teenage drag racer.
And there is no excuse whatsoever for what they did to Ben Grimm.
I did read the original, I bought it when it first came out.
The last Spiderman movie (with Electro) sucked big time. That is why they are going to start over with Marvel having creative control over the next one.
Fox seems to have no knowledge of the source material and clearly have no respect for it. They are butchering the X-men.
When they did first Class and were so proud of "inventing" the part about Magneto hunting Nazis after the war. They didn't even know that this was already covered in the comics and he had spent the 50's as a Nazi hunter.
Sony's depiction of the Rhino at the end of the last Spiderman movie was terrible, again they had either no knowledge or no respect for the source.

I meant in the new one, she was adopted.... adopted still means bother sister, johnny was still a daredevil type so no personality changes. Doesnt bug me unless they fundamentally change their personality.

I think gotham and agent carter have been better than any of the superhero movies ive seen. Nothing can ever be as bad as the halle barry(think thats her name) catwoman though... hmmm punisher was probably my favorite movie wise....

Catwoman and Electra were terrible.
