Why do you feel that would have been appropriate?

I am unaware of any demand from Germany for our surrender.

Why would the U.S. have surrendered? The U.S. had broken the Japanese code and knew everything they were up to before the operational orders were even published.

Yet, you have yet to answer the question I asked in the first post...do you find the POW-MIA Flag to be 'racist'.

What most of you gun totting war mongering americans fail to realise is that not every anti-war person is against the soldiers. No one said the soldiers were evil. The soldiers did provide a huge sacrifice, that is obvious. I believe the authors point is that the soldiers were used for a political issue that had nothing to do with the US, freedom, democracy or American interests. Vietnam presented no threat to the US homeland or regionally to US interests.

The soldiers went there to do their duty as they had been trained to do. Unfortunately they were used as pawns in a idiotic childish us against them pissing war that the US never should have been involved in.
And what some anti-war pansy Iike you fails to recognize is that there are plenty of us war-mongerers who were IN the military during the Vietnam Era and after that know all about the liberal take on the "political war machine" and all about the extreme right wing "duck yeah, let's go kill us some commies...right or wrong" view and realize there's truth to both sides, that it's not all black and white. There are many hues of grey in the picture.

That doesn't diminish the efforts of the ones who fought and died nor the actions of those who fought and were captured or went missing. While I have no doubt that many of the men I served with joined up looking for action or a paycheck or a route to college or maybe to kill somebody, most of them joined out of a sense of loyalty to our country and a desire to show gratitude through service.

None of that makes us racist. None of that, nor the reasons given in the article, makes that flag "racist".

When Americans fight it is warmongering. When anyone else fights against us it is heroic. He talks big for someone who has spent his whole life hiding under the U S Nuclear umbrella.

BamaD and Creative. Wow 2 Big Bad doms who talk tuff online. My post never attacked either of you personally, in fact if either of you served I would have maybe even respected you. But your ignorant remarks show me you deserve no respect.

Creative, you call me a pansy, you don't even know me. but that's ok, ignorant people with no valid argument always revert to insults. All I stated was that the soldiers, who bravely served their country, were sent to fight a war that had no geopolitical value to it. Your government put you in harms way for no valid reason. No Vietnamese ever crossed the ocean to attack the USA. The thousands and thousands of dead (American and Vietnamese) were killed over an irrelevant political lie.

Bama, I never said you should have to fight like gentlemen, I even find it repulsive that the politicians and human rights people have their nose in places like guatanamo knowing full well what ISIS / al-quaida are like and what they are planning. I've even heard that US troops are forbidden to attack / kill if the ISIS or.. leaders are gathered for a funeral. I say kill em where they stand. As much as I believe it is our (western duty) to rid the world of ISIS and al-quaida, and I fully support that war effort now. But if you believe for one minute that killing Saddam, Gadhafi or crippling Assad was in American interests you are brainwashed.

I never said all americans were war mongerers, but you know there are some, I was aiming at them (you might be one though). As for your Nuclear Umbrella, shove it up your ass. Go tell the Ukrainians how important your umbrella is, your governments recent attempt to spread the umbrella to their nation has sure brought peace there.

Actually, The way I speak on here is pretty much the way I speak outside of here. If you can't handle it, then don't start of your post to me with an insult such as... "What most of you gun totting war mongering americans fail to realise is that not every anti-war person is against the soldiers."

You do understand that your use of the word 'you' makes the rest of your statement personal, right?

BTW...I DID serve. 82nd Airborne Division, 2nd/505th Airborne Infantry Battalion. Operations Sergeant for my company.

As for not understanding that not all anti-war people are against the soldiers?

I think that, like many...though not all...'support the troops but not the war' types, he knows it is not politically expedient to downgrade the troops nowadays. What part of that states that I don't understand that not all anti-war types are not against the troops? I would think that the phrase 'many...though not all' supports the belief that I don't think all anti-war types are against the the troops.

Yes, I did. No, I don't know you...And you certainly don't know me well-enough to group me in with gun-toting warmongering Americans. I tend to not react well to being called "you gun-toting warmongering American(s)". Note, I said 'react'. You laid down the gauntlet, I picked it up. If only ignorant people revert to insults, then I'd say that the one who reverted first...you...would be most ignorant.

Aside from the word "racist" what exactly did you find insulting?

Well moron, not only did I serve but I volunteered during Vietnam so you may apologize. Our umbrella was protection before Obama the 1st. You can take your views and stick them were the sun don't shine.

His excuse for non-respect was that he "knew" I hadn't served.
I refuted that, the fact that I didn't grovel before an anti-American slug doesn't make my response pathetic.

I have voiced this same opinion to our lawmakers when they seek to de-fund veteran programs. For example they used to pay disabled vets mileage from their home to the VA facility. Now they pay air miles not road miles. Just one more way the passive aggressive politicians talk patriotic slogans while digging deep into the vets wallet.

The answer would be no. Because I don't use socks...they're a cowards way to say things.
