Hello E/everyone! I've decided to post here in the "Ask a Mistress"-section because while the Alternative Black culture is growing as a whole, I find myself wondering if Black Dommes consider themselves a part of the Alternative Black community. While the definition of what it means to be "Alternative Black" is in no way set in stone, I made my own attempt at defining it as "Blacks (not being limited to African Americans) participating in Alternative cultures such as Goth, (Afro)Punk, Nerds, and Cosplay, among others." This list is based off of images and clips that I observed with the term “Alternative Black(s)” as either a tag or title on the description. Surprisingly, I haven't come across an Alternative Blacks sub-group that is inclusive of BDSM, though I would think that we'd fit the bill. Another reason why I'm posting here instead of a General Forum-post is because I've noticed that Black women seem to identify more as being Alternative Black than Black men. Why this is, I'm not sure. That is just what I've observed online. What do you think? Do any of you participate in (so defined) Alternative Black communities? Do you think there should be an "Alternative Blacks in BDSM" sub-category to this culture? Of course, I welcome responses from any and all who wish to comment. I, by no means, mean to exclude others based on the fact that my question is directly posed for Black women. -MSC
