Hello E/everyone!

I've decided to post here in the "Ask a Mistress"-section because while the Alternative Black culture is growing as a whole, I find myself wondering if Black Dommes consider themselves a part of the Alternative Black community.

While the definition of what it means to be "Alternative Black" is in no way set in stone, I made my own attempt at defining it as "Blacks (not being limited to African Americans) participating in Alternative cultures such as Goth, (Afro)Punk, Nerds, and Cosplay, among others." This list is based off of images and clips that I observed with the term “Alternative Black(s)” as either a tag or title on the description.

Surprisingly, I haven't come across an Alternative Blacks sub-group that is inclusive of BDSM, though I would think that we'd fit the bill.

Another reason why I'm posting here instead of a General Forum-post is because I've noticed that Black women seem to identify more as being Alternative Black than Black men. Why this is, I'm not sure. That is just what I've observed online.

What do you think? Do any of you participate in (so defined) Alternative Black communities? Do you think there should be an "Alternative Blacks in BDSM" sub-category to this culture?

Of course, I welcome responses from any and all who wish to comment. I, by no means, mean to exclude others based on the fact that my question is directly posed for Black women.

Hi MSC and welcome...
Im getting old I think, argh, I had no idea that there was a "name/term" for "Alternative Black" Ive been out of the scene in my community for far too long. I know we use far too many labels, they are useful, BUT they can be harmful too depending on your subjective opinion. I was active more than ten years ago in the local scene and I enjoyed the big local partys where the LOTS Of different "labels" come out to play, I liked to meet and mingle with everyone.... I also enjoyed the femdom male sub get togethers, because, it was specific to a particular group. A diet of one OR the other would have probably bored my bewbies off.

I went to a small group demo of ASMR people with some extremely cool gadgets n brain waves to do with pleasure n pain a couple of months ago, now Im all gaga about that, but it wasnt local...Sadly..Now im looking to see if anyone locally would be interested in the guy to come up and do his demo....
Being part of a niche is a niche in a niche almost everywhere. Being with a group you identify(for whatever reason) with isnt a bad thing. Too much of a good thing can be bad for you tho....
I dont think there should be...I dont think there shouldnt be....a subcategory..but with my admittedly limited experience in a community lately, I havent got anything but my thoughts.
There is probably a group on fetlife?

Interesting topic, made me think.
Thanks

Just seems that the life style is not embraced on a public level by the black community

I'm mixed and definitely consider myself alternative. I'm tattooed/pierced, am in a rock band, and have brightly colored hair. So yes I do consider myself in the alternative scene although not specifically the "black alternative scene" as I didn't know there was such a thing. My more alternative friends are of all different races. I consider them all "alternative" without them specifying their race, if that makes sense.
