Mr. Savage and his view that the homeless should either be put in prison or mental institution.

In fact, just travel around Right Wing Watch and you'll see this all over the place (the stuff cloudboy is explaining). By conservatives and libertarians.

That is because they behave as immature, clueless children...

I didn't listen to the clip because, frankly, I don't listen to anything Savage has to say. But you are an ignorant idiot. By reliable estimates, fully one third of our homeless population is seriously mentally ill and in need of institutional psychiatric care.

I think you should listen to it. Because that fellow is representing your political views out into the mainstream of society. Notice I did not state you have to agree with his viewpoints!

An who has been limiting or eliminating care to all Americans for the last twenty years? Where ever and however possible? Your political party, Kirata! You have been against the ACA. The same legal document that gives the best chance to help many of those homeless out of serious medical problems. One city even went to far as to house their homeless population. For all their efforts, they found they saved the city 2/3rds of normal charges. Who was against that process, Kirata? Your political party. In fact, when I explained the concept, you were against it!

How many people in this nation suffer from one or more mental and/or emotional problems?

The evidence is alarming to anyone with a pulse. Except for your political party whom are zombies! Its suspected that the population with Depression is currently twice that of those that seek treatment (voluntarily or otherwise). There are a number of conservatives that seem to be effected by paranoia and/or schizophrenia. Yet, how many will get tested let alone therapy to treat the problem?

There are many problems taking this organization seriously. That it accepts "... pro-psychiatry and anti-psychiatry writers and researchers..." implies they do not listen to the scientific community; but from crack-pots and those whom have been debunked. Asserting that 'mental illness' and 'mentally ill' are two different things (which they are not). If a person has Depression, it could be short or long term. It could be mild or severe. Yet, they are treated as having Depression in the medical community.

Mental and emotional illnesses may not be noticeable by the general public. In fact, most people get most mental/emotional disorders wrong when asked about them. A person whom is psychotic, is not a killer; its someone that has less empathy on a given situation that can seem odd to people in and out of context. The general public has very little to any real, stable, medical knowledge were it concerns mental and/or emotional problems.

Here is were the bullshit is put on display:

quote:

2 million mentally ill go untreated
One-third of mentally ill go homeless (200,000)
16% of incarcerated (300,000) have mental illness
1,000 homicides a year are committed by mentally ill
10-17% of seriously mentally ill kill themselves
$15 billion is spent incarcerating mentally ill
Random acts of violence by minority are tarring the majority.

Really? 2 million people exactly are mentally ill and untreated. That seems like quite an unusual exacting number to be found in scientific study....

What is this organization defining as 'mental illness'? There are quite a bit more mental and emotional problems a person could suffer than just paranoia, schizophrenia, and depression. Ever study the Diagnostics and Statistics Manual, version 5? The 'bible' of the APA?

1,000 homicides a year? Again. Doesn't that seem a bit unusual of a number? Sorry, we are in September and we hit the 1,000 mark; no more mentally and/or emotionally unstable people are allowed to kill anyone. From here on out, only the same can kill....

"Random acts of violence by minority are tarring the majority." What does the minority (i.e. blacks, asians, women, etc.) have to do with the mental ill here? Or are we defining mental/emotional illness as '....not being white male....'?

quote:

Five Policies that Save Money, Improve Care, and Keep Public and Patients Safer

Spend smarter: Spend on mental "illness" not mental "health".
Use Assisted Outpatient Treatment (court ordered outpatient treatment) for those with a history of violence dangerousness or multiple rehospitalizations due to noncompliance.
Reform involuntary commitment laws so they prevent violence, rather than require it.
Reform Medicaid law to preserve psychiatric hospitals (eliminate the IMD Exclusion)
People found Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity and unfit to stand trial should receive mandated treatment

Mental illness is a form of mental health. In that the mind is suffering from a situation that a healthy mind would not. How does one acquire Depression, Kirata? For some, they are born with it. For some, due to trauma. For someone, something odd happens. This 'organization' wants to treat just the mentally ill, not figure out.....how....such illness occurs. Knowing how it occurs in the human body, helps us understand how to treat it.

If we 'reform' involuntary commitment laws to prevent violence; there are a whole pile of gun owners whom will be sitting in a mental ward soon enough. Since the majority of violence by firearms is caused by people whom were mentally 'healthy'; yet in one fine moment, were not. There are....MANY....'anger management issue' type individuals with access to firearms. Only takes one thing to 'set them off'. And there are plenty of examples of it already.

If one is found "Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity", they are ALWAYS housed in a prison. This organization foolishly thinks we let someone off the hook after butchering ten children, because they are 'mentally unhealthy' at the time. No, we locked that individual up in a mental ward for a long time (if not, their life).

Yes, while I like the organization trying to make a positive difference. It only makes that positive difference with people that are informed. Sadly, most Americans are uniformed of most things effecting this nation right now. The care level of mentally and/or emotionally compromised individuals whom are financially homeless, is just one of many such subjects that Americans are fairly ignorant on. We as a nation can not make forward progress on the problem, due to two political groups of people: conservatives and libertarians. And they have a political organization (that you support): The Republican/Tea Party. You have been against the ACA, enough though that law has been helping many of those homeless get better treatment for their problems.

Mental Illness Policy Org focuses on serious mental illness, not mental ‘health’. I,e, the 5-8% who are most seriously ill, mainly suffering from schizophrenia and treatment-resistant forms of bipolar disorder.

Hint: It's called English.

MORE on Trolls:

• trolls are more likely to display noxious personality characteristics, that is, traits that impair one’s ability to build relations and function in a civilised or pro-social way. In a comprehensive examination of their psychological profile, trolls were found to be more Machiavellian (impulsive and charming manipulators), psychopathic (cold, fearless and antisocial), and especially sadist than the overall population. Trolls enjoy harming and intimidating others, so much so that the authors of this study concluded that trolls are “prototypical everyday sadists”, and that trolling should be regarded as online sadism. This is in line with the view of trolling as a form of cyberbullying.

• trolling is a status-enhancing activity: by attracting readers’ attention, upsetting people, sparking heated debates, and even gaining approval from others, trolls can feel important, perhaps much more than they are in their real lives. Thus trolling is yet another internet activity that promotes narcissistic motives, since trolls may be expected to be far less successful in attracting people’s attention in the physical world.

Even Mr. Christie is getting in on the 'act'. By stating we should track immigrants to this nation (legal or otherwise). Know where they are at all times. Yeah, I guess Mr. Christie has never heard of the 4th amendment. That there protects *ALL PERSONS* from being tracked (including illegal immigrants). By the government. Where have we known a government, in recent history, whom used tracking numbers to help identify groups of people they hated?

Nazi Germany......

So you consider the requirement, when a resident alien, to inform the State Department of any change in address and annually renew your green card to be a violation of the 4th amendment?
Yes, Christie has a dose of "fruit loop" but in that instance he is talking about upping the technology of tracking not instituting tracking in the first place.
