ORIGINAL: freedomdwarf1 We don't reheat - fastest way to food poisoning or stomach upset, especially with poultry or fish. Re-heating chicken is fine provided its not been frozen and only re-heated once. Chefs re-heat chicken all the time, they just use a thermometer to check its reached the required temperature. The only thing I don't re-heat is rice, not because I can't if done properly but because I personally don't want to take the risk. DesFip, Steve and me are not big meat eaters and so one small chicken is going to last us at least two days. Steve is a fridge thief! and so I always tell him that the left over chicken is going to be used for a further meal. Could you not just remind him that you intend to use the chicken that is now in the fridge for the next meal? When we are living on the boat we don't have a freezer, so everything we eat has to be fresh (we don't eat ready meals). When we are sailing we need to have plenty of supplies that won't perish quickly and we need to be able to throw something together quickly. Eggs are my one saving grace because there is nothing more filling than an omelette with a few vege. Stir fried vegetables with some cooked pasta thrown in and a good sprinkling of parmesan cheese is another healthy alternative. A risotto takes about 20 minutes to throw together, though you do need something to put in it. I always have sweet potatoes, green onions and parmesan which keep really well and make a very tasty nice risotto. Desfip, there is one thing I have worked out about you over the years and its that you are a very keen and probably a very good cook. I've seen your suggestions on the cooking forums and you clearly know your way around a good recipe. Whilst advising you on alternatives, I do feel like I'm trying to tell you how to suck eggs but you did ask for advise so....!
