Elevenses -> What is low maintenance? (7/17/2006 9:12:41 AM)

I have seen this term, "low maintanance" mentioned  often and wonder what it means exactly.

JessieMe -> RE: What is low maintenance? (7/17/2006 9:14:15 AM)

Low maintainance means it doesnt require additional attention.

justheather -> RE: What is low maintenance? (7/17/2006 9:15:32 AM)

Perhaps you will find some insight here:

To me,it means someone who needs very little attention to function efficiently. The best service is done to spec, invisibly, and with attention to detail.

It is subjective period.

SexyRed -> RE: What is low maintenance? (7/17/2006 9:31:12 AM)

It is as boring a term as high maintenance. See above link from justheather; that discussion is still raging since the semantics and ideas about what is high and low maintenance are multifaceted.

heartfeltsub -> RE: What is low maintenance? (7/17/2006 9:37:17 AM)

Though it is subjective, i would agree with Caretaker, someone who doesn't need lots of attention, that tasks are done well, efficiently and without the need for lots of management.

I talked to my Daddy about the other thread, and even though  from every indication we both want the same type of relationship as far as energy invested.. we differed on these terms.

I will say something a little controversial just because I have an imp on my shoulder controlling my typing (WEG). Aren't most dominants high maintanence? Do they not require much energy and trouble? Aren't they always wanting a lot of time spent on them? (for the record I adore spending time on my Daddy, and think of new ways to please him when I am in his presense).

Oooooooo, girl!
No, you didnt!
This is going to be FUN!

SexyRed -> RE: What is low maintenance? (7/17/2006 9:46:47 AM)

Yes, many Dominants are high maintenance as well, but no one seems to be discussing that. I believe that the Dominants who are upset about high maintenance, fully believe that only they are allowed to be so, not submissives.

heartfeltsub -> RE: What is low maintenance? (7/17/2006 9:47:04 AM)

i actually know some Doms who make no bones about the fact that they are high-maintenance people. i do know other Doms who are rather low-maintenance. But justheather is right, "no, you didn't" (grinning)

RavenMuse -> RE: What is low maintenance? (7/17/2006 10:02:32 AM)

I'm not a big fan of either term.

Too many Doms castigate a girl for being high maintanence when all it is is that the girl has a normal everyday problem and the lazy arsed Dom doesn't want to get off his backside to do anything other than the fun 'play' bits!

Consequently, Low maitnenance comes to mean someone who doesn't bother him with problems and is just there for when he wants a body to flog or someone to shag!

SexyRed -> RE: What is low maintenance? (7/17/2006 10:02:34 AM)

Why be afraid to stir up the pot of the high maintenance Dominants? I am sure they will come running to their defense by saying, We are Dominant, hear me roar!!!

There's a big difference between a girl with an occasional problem, vs one in the habit of creating problems-where none exist.

Someone insecure enough to micromanage everything, is evey bit as high maintanence as what he tries to control.

It's just another way of being an attention slut.

I don't have a lot of patience for either side that does this.

Ha!  Good one.  But, just as well because if Master were low maintenance I wouldn't have much of a job, would I?  And that would be unfulfilling for me.

As for a low-maintenance slave, it is what I aspire to be, and getting there.  To Master, it means I am trained to his liking and do not require so much "fine tuning."  It means I know my place, and I serve, and I do not create additional work for him.  He can count on me to be here and happily in place whenever he taps into me, be it for conversation or service.  In fact, that's really what low maintenance means, in my opinion:  He can count on me.

I agree 100%, although it is quite ubiquitous on this side of the pond for men to say they dislike high maintenance women just to constantly hook up with them...smiles

I quite agree there is... however I all too often see girls from the former group painted as the latter by arseholes who don't want to deal with any of it! Fair weather doms, only their for the good times!

I agree with you on this point, someone who needs to micromanage is too much work. I have enough intiative in my real life career and in my personal life to deal with micromanagement of any sort. Getting and receiving attention from and to someone is just part and parcel of a good relationship in my opinion.

Yes, it's about reliability.

To me high maintanence= incompetent
          low maintanence= competent.
