The quiet, uneventful end of ‘Jade Helm 15’

Congratulations, America, you managed to avoid a military takeover of the United States and the dictatorial imposition of martial law.
The military exercise Jade Helm 15 generated enough conspiracy theories this year that it garnered mockery on late-night television, commentary from presidential candidates and reaction from the Texas governor. The basic thrust of the concerns: The military was laying the groundwork for martial law – if not now, then sometime in the future.

The exercise will end quietly Tuesday, however. Carried out in parts of Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida, it will conclude after two months of operations, said Suzanne Nagl, a spokeswoman for Army Special Operations Command, which oversaw it.
The Washington Post’s report added that Nagl does not yet have details on the lessons of the training exercise, but she added that officials at the Army Special Operations Command “believe the exercise overall was a success.”

Remarkably, “success” in this case did not mean the confiscation of Americans’ guns, as part of some kind of military takeover.

If you were away over the summer, you may not know what I’m talking about, so let’s recap. From July 15 to today, the military organized some training exercises for about 1,200 people in areas spanning from Texas to California. Somehow, right-wing activists got it in their heads that the exercises, labeled “Jade Helm 15,” were part of an elaborate conspiracy theory involving the Obama administration, the U.S. military, Walmart, and some “secret underground tunnels.”

It sounded ridiculous because it was ridiculous.

Nevertheless, as far-right hysteria grew louder, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) felt the need to order the Texas Guard to “monitor” the military exercises – just in case. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) stoked the same fires, and even Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) arranged a meeting with Pentagon officials and a three-star Air Force general, just to make sure American officials weren’t planning a takeover of America, or something.

As recently as mid-May – just four months ago – Public Policy Polling found that one-third of Republicans believed the conspiracy theory that “the government is trying to take over Texas.”

I suppose technically, the Jade Helm 15 exercises won’t end until later today, so far-right activists still have a few more hours to worry about the end of American freedom as we know it, but I’m reasonably optimistic that their hysteria was misplaced.

Postscript: As we talked about in July, it’s tempting to think the conspiracy theorists are going to look pretty foolish now that Jade Helm is wrapping up without incident, but right-wing politics usually doesn’t work this way. On the contrary, we’re likely to hear that Obama administration would have hatched its dastardly scheme, but conservatives prevented the crisis by raising a fuss.

Thanks to the vigilence of the right our country has once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Way to go, Lucy. Drink deeply from that cup of Kool Aid. Jade Helm was an incredible success, not because of whatever nonsense is being "reported" by the Corporate News Writers. No, it was an incredible success because we have been overtaken by the military, without even knowing it. It was such an incredible success, that you can't even find one sign that the military has taken over.

Is it any surprise there is a "National Guard" base in every US State, the District of Columbia, and 3 US territories? I think not. This has been the plan all along.

Pull a response from the bag:

* Jade Helm 15 was thwarted and abandoned thanks to the vigilance of the free American people.
* Jade Helm 15 was successful in laying the groundwork for a more sinister plan in the future.
* Jade Helm 15 was actually a smokescreen for a more sinister plan going on right now.
* JADE HELM 15 HERALDS THE END OF TIMES. OBAMA IS THE ANTICHRIST. DARK PRINCE HAS RISEN. SOMETHING ABOUT COMETS AND LUNAR ECLIPSES.
* We were wrong.

She is right, the conspiracy theory therories were junk. No massive right wing protests, no demonstrations, no right wing nuts attacking the military people for no reason. People just sat back and watched it. Another left wing conspiracy up in smoke.

Since you originally commented on my thread about Jade Helm 15, its only right I return the same favor. =)

Most of the conservatives on here were "borderline" wacko about JH15. They tried their best to portray conservatives in Texas as being rational individuals; while at the same attacking the President like its his idea to invade Texas. Many of the posts tried to state Texas was allowed to leave the nation if it wanted (which it can not on its own). And a few even tried to bash me for all sorts of things....AND FAILED!

About half way through the operation, most of the conservative conspiracy theories on several sites had switched from JH15 to other things (like Russia, North Korean, that satellite near Pluto, etc). They placed JH15 on the back burner like they were hoping SOMETHING would happen. They even had crews of people tailing the US Soldiers just to see if they would do something....evil....

As expected, nothing happened during the operation of real notice or worry to the average American inside the nation. If Texas was taken over, it might have been an improvement; The Dallas Cowboys would only lose by three touchdowns instead of seven to the New England Patriots!

As far as conspiracy stories go, Mr. Alex Jones was wrong....AGAIN!

I wonder if any of those 'republicans' will get asked about their comments on JH15 in the CNN Republican Debate? Since a bunch of them stated some pretty juicy stuff that will be tough to backpedal on without sounding like a moron!

Jade Helm was a smokescreen, they were diverting attention from the real operation which was the geomapping of those states looking for areas where the bedrock was close to the surface in order to build new cities for the elite.

You see, the government has long known of the existence of graboids, subterranian precambrian life forms that cannot move through solid rock. These creatures were first discovered in a little town known as Perfection Nevada, and the only successful person that has been able to adaquately deal with them is a man named Burt Gummer.

This post has to be a psychiatrist's wet dream.

Mr Chronic Paranoia (call me Ronnie just in case they're listening) is seduced by alluring temptress Ms. Eva De Lusiona. They produce a love child called Jade Helpmepleasethey'rereallyouttogetme aka "Jade Helm". To escape both her notoriety and pursuers (who hark from a nameless sinister very hush-hush Federal Govt agency that no one has ever heard of) Jade hatches a devious plan to turn the tables on her pursuers by quietly moving to good ole Dixie.

Sadly for Jade the ever vigilant Texas chapter of the Defenders of the American Revolution and Constitution (DARC) rumbles her ominous plan to hide in plain sight by declaring martial law and consigning any surviving patriots to the nearest FEMA re-education camp. Arming themselves with The Bible copies of the Constitution and as much military hardware as they can fit into their ancient pick-up trucks, DARC's heroic volunteers defied the sinister subversive 'Jade Helm' and re-claimed Texas for God, the Constitution and the arms industry, defeating the satanic left wing conspiracy and killing off any remaining latte drinking trendy lefties. Thank heavens for patriots like DARC!

How many times do we need to be reminded that the price of liberty is eternal vigilance and the retail price of an AK47 (plus ammo and NRA membership fees)??? ........ and no matter what the evidence is, I did NOT write this.

PS: If you're listening, you can turn the tapes off now.

A few points of fact:

The various conspiracy theories concerning Jade Helm came from the right, not the left. (Right = Conservatives, Left = Liberals)

Second, the Republican Governor of the State of Texas ordered up members of the state defense force to watch the activities of the US troops.

Third, conservative republicans jumped on the conspiracy band wagon and went nuts on FOX news talking about the possibilities.

Finally, when you consider the states this was conducted in, there are more than enough "hold my beer" redneck lunatics to stop the US Army, not by force, but by causing soldiers to laugh so hard they become incapacitated by the insane tactics used by the "hold my beer" crowd.
