Are these really the best replies i can get. No one can just answer it

camille65 -> RE: now what taboo means? (9/19/2015 8:27:28 PM)

Taboo in what way? Taboo for whom?

Typically something that is taboo is something that goes against a belief society holds as vital, murder is considered taboo. Marrying ones first cousin is considered taboo in some places, commonplace in others. Shaking hands using your right hand is taboo in some places.

Your question is too vague to easily answer.

crumpets -> RE: now what taboo means? (9/19/2015 8:29:15 PM)

Um, it means what you want it to mean.

Do you want it to mean that it's taboo to kill someone just so that you can slice them up and eat the juicy parts for dinner?
Or, do you want it to merely indicate that you have a slightly non-vanilla fetish, where you enjoy peanut butter with your cunnilingus?

Of course, then there's the Urban Dictionary meaning ...

Urban dictionary taboo sex:
quote:

Top Definition
taboo sex
the art of inserting one's penis into a lady and then it goes completely wrong and you find out its not a lady its a goat.
"did you hear about geoff and his taboo sex?"
"Yeh his name was billy"

Since taboo is different for everyone (to a degree), then perhaps the best way to deal with your curiosity is to ask each person individually?

Yeah. For example, to me, it's taboo to pay for something which should be free, although, it would certainly be taboo for me if, as the Urban Dictionary alludes to, if I placed my thing inside of what appeared to be a woman, but, which happened to be, of all things, a goat.

That's taboo!

Its a game. Quite a bit if fun actually. I'm not surprised it has become such a popular fetish.

What should be free?

So now what am I going to do when I want to refer to a taboo in the original sense, before being hijacked by you for your own pleasure? I mean the word of course. It goes way deeper.

The "typical" reason people use in their profiles is to indicate an interest in those things that are not even wholly accepted even in the BDSM community--water sports, scat/brown play, incest...

Granted, we are not using the term correctly because really "taboo" means "too offensive to mention" and does not always have anything to do with sex. In fact, "sex" itself would be considered "taboo" in many cultures. A "fetish" is, of course, technically, something that a person has an unnatural sexual attachment to whereby they CANNOT be sexually satisfied without it (so...those who claim to have a "shoe fetish" really should not be able to "finish" without incorporating any type of shoe into the act).

If you want to get technical (and when it comes to language usage I DO have a fetish LOL) both terms are being misused here as well as by most of society.

Bhruic -> RE: now what taboo means? (9/20/2015 9:22:21 AM)

Since you don't seem to know how to search for such answers on the internet, here you go...

A taboo is a vehement prohibition of an action based on the belief that such behavior is either too sacred or too accursed for ordinary individuals to undertake, under threat of supernatural punishment. Such prohibitions are present in virtually all societies. The word has been somewhat expanded in the social sciences to strong prohibitions relating to any area of human activity or custom that is sacred or forbidden based on moral judgment and religious beliefs. "Breaking a taboo" is usually considered objectionable by society in general, not merely a subset of a culture.

Are you asking about taboo as a verb, noun or adjective... it is all three of these things. That is why the first reply with a link to the dictionary was the correct answer to your undefined and unanswerable question. Click that dictionary link and look it up.

Seriously. Go with my reply. It's guaranteed to get you into a lot less trouble.

These days, not having a tattoo anywhere on your body qualifies.

Women/BDSM/sex/freedom/ice cream/etc.

You know, the usual.
