I wonder what is the point to the message boards if they exist for people to deliberately bate, flame and insult each other rather than accept each others differences and cease the obvious animosity , prejudice and bigotry?

People have differing opinions. What one person deems appropriate, others think is totally the opposite. This is the internet and people are anonymous behind their computers and can act like idiots without worry of being known. Once you've been around here long enough you get used to these types of posts.

People are people and this is the interenet where peopler are afforded a degree of anonymity that lets them behaver as they would not in real life. Yes this is a site for alternative lifestyles, so you would think it would be more accepting of others' views, but that's just not reality. There are always going to be people who live to antagonize, people who don't want to understand differing viewpoints, and some people who don't mean to sound rude but are truly clueless about how provocative their actions seem to others. I like to think I can be a reasonable person, if not a little snarky sometimes, but I people here get to me as much as anyone. But I have seen just as bad or worse on boards where you would expect all light and sunshine. Go to an expectant mommy board sometime and ask which brand of carseat would they recommend. Then duck. Or to an educator board and talk about research based methodologies in languages. But put on your boxing gloves first, Or god forbid a women's board weighing the benefits of breastfeeding over formula. I wouldn't be surprised if contract killers scoped those boards out like the jobs classifieds.

. . . or the message boards also contain a wealth of sincere information and shared experiences for people that understand sometimes you have to pic through weeds to find your flowers. You sound like you are referring a particular experience. Try going to any forum, like this General BDSM Discussion forum for example, then sort the threads by "Hits" instead of by date. You will find some golden oldies there well worth the read.

Well, I'll tell you the truth ('cause that's the kind of gal I am). That "General BDSM Discussion" thing? Believe it or not, we do talk about that stuff sometimes. Other times, folks kid around with each other. Other times still, beneath the leather and the whips, we're still humans with the same flaws as everybody else. Now, if you want to start an actual kink related thread, you might just see those better parts come out. [:)]

It's the cyber world and people tend to just speak their minds and be less polite. Just gotta get used to it and not get sucked into all the negativity of it. You never know who is behind the keyboard. Might be someone just mentally ill. At the same time, there are plenty of genuine people among all the dirt too.

I have no idea what you're speaking about, but, in general, you forum regulars can smell a rat when a rat puppy posts, so, I'll presume this isn't a serious thread by the OP, and then, go against my better judgement in order to opine the echo that the OP needs to understand that this forum is no different than any forum that comprises DIFFERENT personalities. We all have different inputs, experiences, intelligence, opinions, morals, kinks, needs, wants, and desires. Hence, the forum reflects that diversity.

Some sock puppets can be spotted by people immediately. Others, not so much. Call me cynical, but most folks don't make their first forum post to, basically, complain about the forums. It's usually a really big sign that somebody has created a sock puppet because their last name didn't do so well. If it really is somebody who is currently on moderation, and they created another account to circumvent that moderation, that used to be a really big no-no around here.

LadyPact is right. There is no reason for a person's first post to be complaining about the forums which they've never taken part of.
