Scores of U.S. Secret Service employees improperly accessed the decade-old, unsuccessful job application of a congressman who was investigating scandals inside the agency, a new government report said Wednesday. An assistant director suggested leaking embarrassing information to retaliate against Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, chairman of the House oversight committee.

The actions by the employees could represent criminal violations under the U.S. Privacy Act, said the report by the Homeland Security Department's inspector general, John Roth. "It doesn't take a lawyer explaining the nuances of the Privacy Act to know that the conduct that occurred here — by dozens of agents in every part of the agency — was wrong," the report said.

Another (what appears to be a political) attack by the Administration on Republicans. And this one by a non-political arm or at least we have always been told. Just another wonderful admission by the most transparent administration in history.

Whoa. How did "actions by the employees" become "attack by the Administration"?

Evidence?

The Secret Service is a part of the Administration last I heard. The Employees are accountable to POTUS (where the buck stops according to Pres Truman). Now it is up to POTUS to take appropriate action.

Very different from your first take.

Is the OP going to claim that if a Democrat had been in the same position, they would not have done the same?

I see no evidence that it is partisan at all. Just more crooked cops. Nothing to see here that's so unusual.

All I know for 100% positive is the report said that the SS improperly distributed and reviewed the records of a Legislator. And that Obama has made claims to be the most transparent Administration in History and that He is responsible for everything that happens within his administration because he is the "CEO" of the administration. Does it matter, truely, whether or not it is a Rep or Dem Administration. Only to the degree that his Administration is improperly performing its duties under the law and that makes him accountable. He must hold those under him accountable for their actions. Whether or not he does it through Judicial or Administrative means is a matter of debate.

I think it is wrong period...time to clean them out and get some responsible oversight. It should make no difference the political affiliation of the victims... This is an abuse of trust and power and like it or not the people in charge must accept responsibility.

Have you informed the president of your concerns? If not why not?

Make up your mind. Is it an attack on Republicans by the administration as you claimed in the OP or is it improper actions by a police unit that (I agree) should be punished.

You appear to be backpedaling.

Yea, I much prefer he (Obama) go ahead and 'out' a CIA field agent, clearly what qualifies much more as a treasonous and felonious act (and an act for which W could have been immediately impeached and removed) as compared to the right calling the republic-defining opposition to the Iraq war traitors and the admin. doing so in venomous retaliation for that agent's husband also an agent...not coming up with the intel 'Obama' was looking for. I mean this slacker in the white house for almost 7 years now, has failed to get us into at least one more war, or start say, shooting down Russian Migs over Syria.

Hey, I got a new one. How about fire Attys. gen. until we get one to create a memo that says all of the collateral murder caused by drones...is legitimate war fighting. Yea...that's the ticket. AND, why isn't the sky over ISIS...filled with drones ? Can anybody tell me ?

Perspective kinkroids, to be the 'most' transparent admin. in history, one needn't even...break a sweat.
