OsideGirl -> What I did while I was gone... (10/6/2015 9:59:34 AM)

About a year and a half ago, I became pretty sick. I spent a year being tested for cancer, Crohns, Celiac, IBS, and EPI. It was finally concluded that I have sporadic pancreatitis aggravated by PCOS. After about 6 months, we had the episodes somewhat under control (even though we didn't have a didn't have a diagnosis).

So, when I finally got to the point where I was starting to feel better, I decided I wanted to learn to ride a motorcycle. My wonderful Master/DH signed me up for an all female motorcycle course and bought me a very fun little Kawasaki Vulcan 500. I've discovered that riding a motorcycle is closest thing to running a horse through the woods and going over jumps. It's a blast.

Last June, I accidentally bought a Harley. We were at the dealership seeing some friends when I stumbled upon a 2000 Fat Boy with only 2300 miles for only $6900. Even though His Tallness was supposed to get the next bike purchase, he insisted that it was just too good to pass up.

I call her my Fat Bottom Girl.

Very cool. But if she is a Fat Boy, why is she a girl? [:D]

It's really nice, Oside. I'm glad you found something that made you happy.

How's the general health doing? Are you past all episodes at this point?

(If too personal to answer on the forum, I understand.)

Very cool. I used to love riding, though I always found Harley's too heavy to pick up after a spill. I had a honda about 30 yrs ago when it was still kind of unusual for females to be riding as a driver. LOVED it!! There are few things that feel as free as riding, especially if you live near the water.
I am envious! Have fun with her.

The attacks were not good. I'd have crushing abdominal pain, back pain and my entire digestive tract would be in an uproar. Poor M was so frustrated. I'd be curled up in ball crying and he'd just sit on the edge of the bed because he knew if he tried to hold me he'd hurt me and he's a "fixer". So, not being to do anything to help just left him feeling very bereft.

The doctor put me on a bland diet which calmed the attacks but caused my weight to blow up. They finally came to the conclusion that when I had an attack, my pancreas would stop producing the enzymes that digest food. They put me on medication for the enzymes, but then I discovered that I could essentially get the same thing by taking pineapple and papaya enzymes.

So, now the weight is going away. I still have attacks, but not very often and usually not very severe. (Usually when ever I get a hormone spike - perimenopause sucks)Thankfully, the reduced carb diet tends to keep hormones level for me. Things have pretty much gotten back to normal...although M seems to be even more protective of me now. He jokes that he's the only thing allowed to hurt me.

We have a blast riding together.

How often do you drop your bike for this to be a concern??? At any rate, it's likely not that he bike was too heavy to lift, you were probably just lifting wrong. Check this out.

Now get back on your bike :)

Since I took an all female class and one of the instructors was a female and it was at a Harley dealership, they showed us that technique and had us all do it.

It's pretty amazing how easy is it to lift a heavy bike when you know the right way to do it [:)]

I lived in Los Angeles. People can be nuts. I once got hit by one of those trucks, that tows trucks when he turned right from the left turn lane and it made me have to slide my bike under a parked truck. The front of my shirt burned off (danged nylon). It is amazing how much help arrives when you have a red push up bra on.
When I bought my bike the main suggestion I got from dealers who were selling them was that since I was small I should make sure I can pick on up. Honda worked. No part of me could get the Harley's prone again.

That is a good accident. Glad things are balancing out with your health. I bet you enjoy having that Fat Bottom Girl between your legs.
