The lady needs to have a paypal link... I dont donate with anything but paypal. not from online anyway.
I wish her all the best, I hope she has all the luck and healing she can get.
But without an explanation...the method certainly soured me.

I emailed the girl via the "contact organizer" link:

Are you aware that this campaign is being linked to in the advertisement scroll on top of the forums of the CollarSpace.com kink forums?

Her reply:

I am. My cousin owns the site. Thought it could be beneficial to get the word out. I know it's weird but more people would get a chance to see it, even if it is a kink site. Spreads the awareness a little too.

Thanks for sorting that out. I'd wondered if someone in the site hierarchy was connected to the non-Clinton Hillary.

The scroll is handled by a different server than the forums or main site, or at least it used to be.

Could be done.

Change thread title from the original.

Hide all posts, including the first, from view from regular posters.

No move to administration only access view that way.

Personally, I find being aksed to give money to a random stranger to cover their medical or death costs distasteful.

If it's someone where I actually know who they are, it's something different.

I belong to some Facebook groups where it was happening and it turned that the majority where fake.

Edited to add: we only have her word that Eric is her cousin.

I agree. I had no problem donating to s****m***4u's page for his funeral expenses/medical costs because we knew at least a dozen people in common.

Agreed. Of the four donations that I've made to an individual in the past year, all of them have been people I knew on one level or another.

I don't do facebook but the gofundme stuff is just as bad on the black and white site.

True. At the same time, no matter how it was done, only somebody with serious Admin access could make it happen.

OsideGirl -> RE: Strangeness on the Scroll? (10/11/2015 9:49:06 PM)

We endorse and support somewhere between 4 to 10 charity events per month. This past weekend we endorsed 3 charity events on air and would have done more if M's motorcycle hadn't blown the rear wheel bearing. We're on the board of directors for two charities. Next weekend, I'll be rocking biker chic, meets punk, meets red carpet at an event to benefit domestic abuse victims.

I'm more than happy to support, but random Go Fund Me pages turn me off.

TieMeInKnottss -> RE: Strangeness on the Scroll? (10/11/2015 10:09:51 PM)

I have to agree with Oside.

Also, I feel this contradicts much of the "advice" that is given to users. "Don't send money to people you don't know", "don't respond to requests sending you to an outside website/link". Also...the way it is presented is wrong...by labeling it as "an important message from Collarspace" you are immediately expecting something "official" and therefore are IMMEDIATELY suspicious that you have accidentally fallen into some type of phishing or virus thing.

I know you all know the owner well enough and know how things run as far as access codes and security levels that you all "pieced" it together but for the average user or worse yet, the newer people who constantly complain about the site being overrun with pros and scammers looking for money...this immediately is suspicious. Unfortunately, the cause would have been better received (& perhaps gotten some donations ) if Eric had typed a short explanation on the message and THEN put the link to her GoFundPage.

I now fear every sub stuck naked in her master's hotel room in Timbuktu (& who will gladly serve IF only you would send her money) and ever duck-lipped college girl with a webcam who needs beer money (& figures bossing men around is easier than getting a waitressing job) is trying to hack the scroll!!!

I tend to separate the two. I contribute to organizations far more often than individuals.

The motorcycle community will often gather to support an individual that needs help whether it's surgery, cancer or a Service Man or Woman that needs help. We also support 501c charities.

It's just the concept of posting a Go Fund Me page to a bunch of strangers that leaves me cold.

I have a GoFundMe page but I have the brains not to post it here. I use FB for that. As far as I know, no contributors but I am not fussing (its to help with dental work and dentures since Medicare won't pay for it unless its an emergency).

Totally agree with that. A heads up and an explanation would be nice.

oh,... you mean like the heads up and explanation we all got when the site moved to collarspace??? [8|] Yer asking too much, it seems..

The heads up on that wasn't possible, because his partner at the time yanked the domain name out from underneath him, and was trying to use it to coerce him into paying her what she felt he owed her.
In this case, he could have given a heads up, because the decision to change the scroll was entirely into his own hands.

well,.. from a sales point of view, paypal has soured me on using them, if i can use some other payment service I will.. paypal is worse than the US govt at arbitrarily seizing/freezing funds and not paying out what has been contributed or sold.. i dont blame the girl (and/or gofundme) for not using them..

Do you mind if I ask what happened in your PayPal experience?

I've used them for countless eBay purchases and haven't had a problem. Or maybe I'm not looking at my statements carefully enough!

no, a heads up wouldnt have been possible that time but he could have explained the situation after he navigated CM to collarspace.. there was never any official explanation from him that i ever saw.. so why trust him anymore than trust her? how does anyone know that her story (as it was told on the original CM after navigation) wasnt the truth? That hasnt been the only strange crap going on with this site either (its been mod fiasco after mod fiasco) so what does that say about him and how he does business? [8|]

Lucylastic -> RE: Strangeness on the Scroll? (10/12/2015 12:16:09 PM)

Ive been dealing with them and the four major cards since 2001.
Ive had trouble with All of themMy one problem with paypal was fixed far quicker than any I have had with mastercard.
Even debit cards/reloadable arent risk or problem free

In the past I only used paypal sporatically but when i tried to use it again (this was a while ago) they wanted more information and more "verification" and even after I did that there was something about my account being on probation or something (cuz i hadnt used it for a while?) & that it would only pay something like $1,200/m or some small amount like that (no matter the money in the account).. That pretty much killed it for me ever using them.. Purchasing isnt the problem that concerns me, its money from sales/donations and sudden freezing of the account payouts that concern me and should concern anyone doing more than a small amount of sales/donatons.. Too many people have bad bad experiences (which is a huge red flag imo) for me to take the risk of setting up any type of sales/donation business with them.. Anyway, paypal can kiss my butt..

My experience has taught me to take what he says with a grain of salt.

I don't trust either one of them. They're strangers on the internet I haven't even directly interacted with online, and I don't trust strangers on the internet.

That being said, I don't really give a shit whose side of the story was true, or how he chooses to run this site.
For now I enjoy frequenting here, if that changes, I'll take my leave without so much as the blink of an eye.

I don't feel he owes me anything, let alone a justification for his actions if he doesn't want to give it. Though, as said before, it would have been nice and considerate to get one instead of being left to the confusion that ensued.

PS: the scroll seems back to normal for me. Anybody else still getting the fundraiser?
